Thanks for posting, Yoda.

I thought this thread was supposed be a pretty narrow one.

Mr. Kennedy was a true patriot. He dedicated his life to our service, despite the opinions of his politics. He was a true American.

RIP

So, will their be a special election to replace him, will Pelosi be appointing a replacement, or will the governor of MA be appointing a replacement?

Agreed.

He is greater than Jesus to liberals, and is a drunken murdering womanizer to conservatives.

you're right, he wasn't a great man. i'm not even sure he was a great politician. if his last name wasn't kennedy, he'd have been the drunk bum on the corner. he has made his entire career off of his family's and, more specifically, his brother's name.

i certainly don't thank him. i curse his (and bush's) name every time my wife starts complaining about how awful teaching has become since his dear "no child left behind" act passed.

i bet he was a blast to party with back in the day, though. just don't accept his offer for a ride home. ;)

Next time your wife starts complaining about NCLB ask her a couple of simple questions:

How many of her fellow teachers and their union for years have been demanding that the Federal Government get involved in public education?
On what planet have they lived on all these years where they thought that involvement and cash would come without lots of strings and requirements attached?

I don't disagree on any of your points. Alot of teachers got just what they were asking for, although they won't see it that way.

My wife is of the view that politicians should keep their hands off of education and let the teachers teach.

my wife worked in the school district for 2 years (3rd grade) she was amazed at the Teachers union and the buracracy involved in teaching.

I suspect the teachers union has done more to ruin education then people know. but hell thats another thread.

kennedy may have hung on his brothers coat tails but so what? he still did a lot for the country. I'm not going to knock the guy because i disagree with some of his choices.

Governor will appoint a replacement.

And RIP sir. You were a great man.

Edit: I was wrong... special election

Hey fought that so Kerry would not be replaced by a republican senator when Romney was governor and hence the law was changed to a special election. Now that there is a democrat as governor he wants to change it back the other way. Oh how it comes full circle when laws are made for partisanship reasons.

Time to watch for smoke and listen for the bells to know when a new leader has been chosen.

You might be a king, or a little street-sweeper,
