caught the flu recently, presumably on the plane or at the airport  during my return trip from visiting the ex and I am just starting to get  better after having been really sick for 11 days. During that time, I  lost 8 lbs (so far). Worst flu I've ever had. Definitely not covered by  the vaccines I've had the last few years, this one. Like I said I'm  feeling better but I am seeing my family physician on Tuesday to make  sure there are no complications (pneumonia, kidney problems, etc...). 
I  ate my first full meal today since I got ill but I still haven't  recovered my sense of taste/smell. Everything except popsicles tastes  like crap so I really have to force myself to eat. However, I only have a  little fever and body ache left and my strength is slowly returning.  Still feel like staying in bed most of the times but I make an effort to  stay up and try to drink a lot of water. The dry cough that I've  experienced since day one is still there but less frequent. Still  congested though. Funny thing is, I never developed a sore throat... but  I discovered a new kind of 'foamy/frothy' lower body expelling which I  hope to never have to go through again.
Edit: Airplane cabins are  veritable petri dishes. The one thing I hate most about flying. One  Indian passenger in a wheel chair was vomiting two seats from me in the  waiting room at the gate. Vomiting every 3-4 minutes straight on the  carpet until they brought in a garbage bin for him to puke into. There  was a discussion but in the end Air Canada allowed him on board,  boarding last and exiting first. Not sure if he's to blame for my flu  but the thought is there.
