Did that, that was the problem, got it to connect, it dais it updated the ipod, and itunes shows all my songs on it, and says I can disconnect. I disconnect, turn it on, get the apple logo then I get a picture of a file folder with a tirangle with an exclamation point in it in front of the folder, then it shuts off.
 
Ah apple says it may have been caused by me connecting the ipod before installing the software, unfortunately, they give no remedy.
