the rebate is kicking out later today, i got mine at like 2 oclock and i didnt get one, i guess the rebate starting showing up later in the day, and btw my self tag did say 99.99 but when i bought it to customer service they said that it was indeed 49.97

If you have BB and CC close together, you could get two of these (one from BB, one from CC) and use two rebates on your name. The rebates go to these places:

Wife saw this deal from FW last night (she monitors FW and MomCoupon, while I am sitting here. So we got pretty good coverage ) and asked me what Rio is. So I ran to BB this morning. But I did not know BB opens at 10:00am, so I had to sleep in the car for 30 minutes, and it's really worth it!

I will use one. And now my 5-year-old daughter have a new toy, which is cheaper than most of her toys anyway. If she does not like it, I will pass it to my one-year-old son

I went to the Paramus, NJ and W. Paterson, NJ stores and the Rio 600 32Mb player is ringing up @ 49.97 and rebate of $50 is printing up as well. So, you get it for sales tax+ stamp. For those in Northern NJ, W. Paterson has 4 left as of 11:30am and Paramus has 7 as of noon. Circuit City near both of them is out. So don't bother trying to do some kind of pricematch there.

The title really should be updated to "FREE" and remove "YMMV". I have opened my Rio 600. For some reason, it has 8 songs (WMAs, used half of 32M memory) stored. The firware is already up to date. And it gives me big sound through my cheap office headphone.

I will connect to my XP and see what happen.

I wonder if the BB execs are reading these threads. They wanted to clear out these older Rios in a hurry. But when people started talking about the better deal at CC with pm and mir, they added the mir to compete. Its funny how the rebate started appearing in the middle of the day.

i made this deal SUPER hot i think...

got the replacement plan for $7.99 so my total outlay was $61

so if it should break before 1 yr is up, then i get another Rio (one that will take CF or something)
and if it breaks after 1 yr but before 2 yrs, then they mail me ~$54 gift certificate for BB

so basically, they are allowing us to make our own money, $11 becomes $54...

Ok, thanks. But I got a little confused. First of all, where do I go buy it? BB? And do I need to PM to get the $49.97 price plus the rebate or will it just ring up that way?

Finally, does anyone know anything about these players? Is the memory upgradeable? i.e. If I buy a 256 MB compact flash card, will it work in this player? what about a 128 MB card?

You can't PM with BB because it's not advertised. Check this out from CC's webpage about their low price guarantee:

"For every product we sell, we'll match any advertised price from a local store stocking the same new item, available for sale with a manufacturer's warranty and in a factory-sealed box. No you can't find a stupid employee because it is up to the manager, the CC reps usually go to a manager first before they do a pricematch. So YMMV. Unless you get a kind and/or stupid manager. They even went to a manager when I tried to pricematch those TDK cdrs with Target...

Maybe worth a try but don't count on it.
