Well, to be perfectly fair, overconsumption and environmental destruction are bad things.
Big corporations are not inherently bad, but they tend to concentrate power, and we all know how perfectly responsible and benevolent people can get when they're given power.

And I'm sure Disney will sorely miss the $5 in sales they stood to make from Mr. Pollowitz.



Now the more technical question is, why weren't these WALL-E robot things built sooner?
It probably would've been a lot more cost-effective to have a crash program to clean up, rather than shuttle the population up into spaceships.

I suspect his shriveled up near dead Conscience ruined his experience.

Um, humans evolved as nomadic 'shit and leave its'. We do the same with all our waste especially nuclear. Let the people or robots of tomorrow clean up. Disney covered this same theme in the 1934 cartoon about the nuclear engineer and the soccor Mom here.

Fear is a powerful drug that sells very well. Most of America at this time, regardless of political affiliation, is heavily addicted to adrenaline and cortisol, and tunes in (at least) nightly for their daily dose.

Saw the movie tonight and see nothing wrong with it.

If there is a message it is aimed at adults, but they don't beat you over the head with it.

The people complaining about it need to get a clue. Might as well complain about every sci-fi movie since most of them have some type of message about humans.

You can see it in Lord of the Rings, too -- rock and metal are bad (orcs, Sauron), wood and dirt are good (ents, elves, hobbits). I never quite understood the association of rock and metal with evil since both are naturally occurring.

That being said, we do produce too much trash in general. I wish recycling were easier in my neighborhood as no one seems to do it (rules are hard to find, pickup schedule is strange). Ironically, it was easiest in Ohio where you received a bin and just dumped all your recyclables together and placed it next to your trash on pickup day -- no sorting or special bagging.

I'm rambling because I'm hungry...

Well Fern Gully was getting close to 20 years ago at this point. I think we can survive an eco movie once every couple of decades. As far as LOTR goes, a lot of that was from the book. I mean it's hard for the ents to get pissed off at Saruman if he's not cutting all the trees down. People are reading too much into things.

What confuses me is why these people do not realize how many children's movies, tv shows, books, and all other kinds of children's entertainment teaches them to be eco friendly. Not to mention that such teachings have existed within this sort of entertainment for decades now.

I saw it on opening night and it didn't feel preachy to me at all.

I thought the movie was about loneliness more than anything. Wall-E was lonely and so were the humans in the movie, they had no real contact with each other. That's why fatty chick #1 got all excited when fatty man #1 actually physically touched her.

That was the overriding theme of the movie for me.

But for these blowhards who seem so bent out of shape.....keep in mind these are people who view everything in their world through the prism of their ideology and are constantly on the look out for perceived liberal "whatevers" that they can get upset about. These people make their living from fabricating and disseminating faux outrage.

While I don't think the movie was perfect,(the ending was terrible), I thought it was far superior to the Incredibles or Cars, both of which I guess I just don't get.

Did you even bother to read the actual NRO movie review? The review that praised WALL-E as, "the kind of movie that grownups will want to watch more than once."? The review that says the movie, "offer a resolution to that question that is not just ingenious but satisfying, as well as moving."?

Hard to do that when the left preaches the religion of MMGW at schools using propaganda. Though harmless by itself, each piece is part of a greater argument used to serve their cause by imprinting an image onto the minds of the vulnerable. Beginning with your children.

People are unclean and thus must die in order to make the place we live cleaner. We can select the ones who live and kill all the others.
