Riding in a lowered car for more than 10 mins is pure torture

Did you have the wagon specific springs?

Also, the struts on the bugeye years (02-03) didn't have a lot of dampening (especially the rears), and lowering springs had a tendency to make that worse. Hit a bump going fast around a corner and the rear had a tendency to unweight in a hurry, which could be a bit startling. Good aftermarket struts (like KYB's or Koni's) fixed that issue.

My WRX sits on KYB AGX adjustables and Eibach Pro's, plus sways, camber kit, and custom alignment. It's my daily driver, so I felt it was a perfect compromise between ride comfort and performance.

The OP's friend sounds like a ghetto ricer. Sometimes it's better just to leave that Civic stock.

You should look into getting the bump steer mod done, too. I didn't have my Wagon done, as I had the Prodrive Fast-road Geometry set up and it drove like a dream and the ride was sweet as I was on the stock JDM WRX springs.

A civic lowered on 'fake' coilovers. It's pretty slammed. The tires are tucked a bit under the fender. That's too low for me. I prefer a lowered look like on the bmw's.
That explains why. I decided not to lower my car with aftermarket springs, but from what I hear it doesn't make it a lot harsher.

But if you don't use the proper equipment or you just don't care about ride quality, then you're going to have the typical Civics that go bouncing down a perfectly flat road.
 
Admittedly, my ride is a little harsh right now, but I still have a little work to do. I need to C-Notch the rear frame, and go with after market bumpstops. After that is should ride almost factory.
 
My car is lowered, but I don't know how. It has coilovers up front, and the ride is pretty harsh, but it doesn't bounce. Plus it handles very nicely, easily outhandles my mom Eclipse and my friend's Sentra. So, just because a car is lowered doesn't mean it's crap, even if it is a Honda.
