Riding in a lowered car for more than 10 mins is pure torture

Probably suffered some neck injury from all the bouncing and jolts after riding in my friend's lowered car. I wouldn't be surprise if there was some hearing loss as well from having to scream to hear what the other is saying. Maybe I've grown too accustom to the quiet and supple ride of my car but I'm sure if his wasn't so aggresively low it would atleast be more tolerable.

personally I don't care for lowered cars. It looks kinda cool, but when it comes down to it I would be paranoid of ruining the car bottom when going over a hill/bump.
 
lowering my car is the best thing I've ever done to it. Yes it rides a lot harder but damn, the thing just is SSOO much more fun to drive ... and i have a crappy slow jetta. makes driving a lot more enjoyable.

Yep. I like being able to drive over speed bumps, curbs, rocks, plywood, rabbits, squirrels, dead bodies, etc.. without scraping the underside of my truck.

A civic lowered on 'fake' coilovers. It's pretty slammed. The tires are tucked a bit under the fender. That's too low for me. I prefer a lowered look like on the bmw's.

If he has used quality coilovers or quality springs and shocks, the ride would be fine.

Ditto to the people saying they don't care for lowered cars. I don't know why someone would want that for a daily driver. Too many hills and bumpy roads around here.

I also hate rims that are so large the driver has to slow for any bump just to avoid damaging them. If you don't have enough tire left to protect your rims during daily driving your rims are too fvcking big!

Not only that, but a crappy ghetto lowering job actually worsens handling over stock. Most likely, he just cut the springs down to the bumpstops. That means low spring rates and very little dampening, so the car just bounces down the road. And you can't turn when you're bouncing. He would have been better off leaving it stock, but the idiot probably thinks he looks cool.

OTOH, a properly lowered suspension can provide a smooth (if firm) ride AND excellent handling, because it makes sure that the tires retain proper contact and weight to the ground.

My daily driver sits on Koni adsjutable struts and Eibach Progressive rate springs. About $800 in parts.

Yes it is lower but not slammed, and my ride is definitely not harsh. Crappy coil-overs will ruin a cars ride as they are normally linear rate springs with no cushion for even the smallest of bumps.

You pay for what you get.

My WRX sits on KYB AGX adjustables and Eibach Pro's, plus sways, camber kit, and custom alignment. It's my daily driver, so I felt it was a perfect compromise between ride comfort and performance.

The OP's friend sounds like a ghetto ricer. Sometimes it's better just to leave that Civic stock.

Actually it's not ghetto riced out. I dont know what type of coilovers he has (skunk2 ??) but it's just that it's lowered so low. It doesn't matter what type of suspension system you go with, at that low of a drop any car is going to be bouncy and ride very harsh.
 
I spent about a week and a half driving a 24' moving truck. When I got back my stock Honda Accord felt soooooooooo low.

Then he needs to bring it up a bit. It's stupid to ride that low. Not only is the ride unbearable, but the handling is worse (tires can't grip if they can't keep contact to the ground), and he'll just wear out those coilovers that much faster from the abuse.
 
Love it when I saw some idiot go halfway through the windshield when his "cool ride" hit a manhole cover that was sticking up about an inch. Wonder if he felt his car was still cool after that, fool
 
I had Eibach Pro-kit springs on my WRX wagon for a while. Eibach claims they're designed to work with the stock struts, but they didn't do well at all. The drop looked great but it rode and handled much better stock.
