Pay the girl the $6 to keep your integrity. I think both of you need a reality check.

No. you don't pay for stuff you don't get. If she she can't get you the beer then SOMEONE is getting THEIR money's worth in beer you didn't drink.

I am willing to paypal you the $6 dollars if we have your word you'll send it to her in pennys.

I'd want pictures and would nominate this as one of the best threads of 2007.

So the roommate got the beer to start, then at the end, she took it back? Sounds like a "return" for a refund for you. Beside, if you got life problems over $6, you really need to get another source of income.

It's a matter of principle.

basically her defense is that she was inconvinieced, is that justifiable?

So get her to figure up the price of the fuel she consumed, wear on the vehicle used, and loss of revenue that she would have earned otherwise. That might be admissible, but beer that someone else took home with them isn't your responsibility. If they didn't want it then it would still be available for you to pay for...

Make sure those pennies are unrolled!

Chipping in for beer and asking a friend to buy you beer is different. You agreed to chip in without any agreement over how much you would drink, if any. They thought you were coming, so bought a certain amount of alcohol which they assumed you would pay.

Plus I thought any alcohol left over from the party belongs to the host irregardless of how much the guests consume?

Yup.

That said, the situation still seems rather odd.

Yah but I read the OP as if the beer is still available. The roommate has decided to take it with her though. To me it's almost like she is techincally 'buying' the beer back from the guy.

Is this friendship really worth throwing away over 6 bucks? The answer to that would, to me at least, make up my mind on whether to pay or not.

1. Pay her the measly $6 to get the bitch off your back
2. Stop being friends with these kind of people.
3. Start being friends with people who can afford to live.

Did anyone suggest yet that you kick her in the baby maker? Cause you should definitely do that.

She asked you to chip in for beer, you should chip in for beer regardless of whether you drank any. You already agreed to chip in. You showed up late and it was all gone. Nagging you about it isn't cool, but if it's the only way to get you to do what you promised you'd do already, then I guess she's justified.

She buys the beer for this party, and the next week YOU throw a party and buy the beer for it.

Yea, and they are on vacation for it (you might want to edit that)

I'll cover half of that $6 via PayPal as long as we get pictures.

:0 Actually the extra would probably just cover the postage, but still worth it.

And besides you can save beer for later. Its not going to expire anytime soon?

I don't think she knows how to drink... prolly don't drink much at all. Hence roomie took it.

Don't you guys offer to buy your friends drinks and shots at the bar?
