I used to live down the road (I-64) in Newport News. I never had any problems in Richmond. If anything commute from the James City County area to your job up there. There is still some country settings there if that is what you want.

I've lived in CA all my life with high power bills and high property values..my family owns about 60 acres of land somewhere over there. My relatives live over there too! And omg, they have TWO REFRIDGERATORS! and they run the AC 24/7, and their cost of living is still lower too!!!
And they have this place called kings dominion!!! With this roller coaster that goes underwater (like viper at six flags, but underwater)...and this one with an indoor loop and all sorts of stuff. AND best of all, theres no WAIT!!! No wait at all!!!!!!! And Busch gardens (maybe i have the wrong state here), pwns too! Free beer!
