Review this 650$ build

They are in a bundle so he cant change the MoBo

That bundle doesn't have my first (or second) choice of mobo, HDD, PSU, or RAM but unlike most of Newegg's super combos, also doesn't have anything particularly egregious either. I'd say it's fine.

So is that about the best i can get for my money?

Perhaps exchange the 650W PSU / 1 TB HDD for a 450 W PSU / 2 TB HDD? That's one free TB of storage.

Not awful, not great.....decent.

But, do you have a MicroCenter anywhere near you?

An i5 2500k and a Radeon HD 6870 is just "decent"? How?? How can i improve this then?.. If I'm spending over 600$ on somthing, i want to make sure its done right, so any help is apreciated.

oh and btw, i live in Florida, so nowhere near a Microcenter.

Well the games i'd like to get good settings on are Skyrim,Crysis,GTA 4 and Witcher 2.. would this rig play those pretty well?

This system will play them, however you wont be putting on uber sampling in the Witcher 2 😛

It wont play them at 1080p however, probably on high settings (with SOME AA (but not too much))

I've used both the 2500K and that motherboard in rigs before and they're pretty solid for the price. I also own that XFX 6870 in my main rig and I'm impressed with it though it is often bottlenecked by my Q6600. It's won't max out every game out there, but it's a solid performer for the price. I've also been impressed by its relatively low heat output.

 Agree. OP, this ain't an Xbox. $600 buys you a decent machine, but you need twice that to get top-end performance.

Uhhh, an xbox is 250$. Are your saying i have to pay more than quadruple that to play my games with alittle more eye candy? I dont want to play all games at MAX settings, i just want medium to high.

Well considering an Xbox 360 doesnt even do real 1080p nor any real image filtering like AA or MSAA, web browsing, run office software, and enable you to do loads of other things....yes.

First post here after lurking a bit. Hi everybody!

I want to build a system too, and am looking for a good shop to buy at, so your post attracted me. That combo deal looks okay to me, but isn't 4GB ram too lean? I'd think 8GB (2x4gb) the minimum you should look at, right? How many banks does that board have?

If that's the whole thought process behind this then why not buy an Xbox?
