Play magazine... do not trust their game reviews. Their scores especially. Play has great previews & artcles though... great design & layout.

You can trust in EGM, their scores/reviews are usually right. They usually describe glaring problems & blessings with accuracy. BTW, when all 3 reviewers agree (which is occasional) that the game sucks. It sucks. :( Which is a shame even though I don't own a PS3, the game looked dope & had great ideas goin for it. Too bad this developer couldn't pull it off.

Well.... still get it for yourself to try out. Afterall, ***** reviews doesn't mean you can't play the game. :)

I generally trust EGM the most, and it looks like they hated it. Oh well, guess I'll definitely be "trying before I buy" this time.

I have been reading EGM for years... great magazine.

I "try before I buy" with even the best games... why purchase a game for $50 - $60 when all you're going to do is beat the single-player once... MAYBE twice? The only reason I would purchase a game on day one for full price is when I KNOW I am going to be playing it a considerable amount of time. & I don't need a review to know this.

For instance I am gonna take a day off of work when Bioshock comes out. :)

I agree with the people saying EGM is the best source for honest unbiased reviews. They typically are blunt as can be about stuff and the fact that 3 people review and give opinions on it is even better.

I read the latest PSM on the way home from Cancun and it was just hilarious to read some of the reviews in there. They would point out glaring problems and then in the end give the games 8.0 or 9.0. I compared games reviewed in the PSM with reviews in the latest EGM and they were generally about 4.0 to 2.0 points above the EGM ones, and they didnt review one less than an 8.0 in the PSM.

I've seen a lot of (mostly rumored and from magazines) back and forth reviews...anywhere from 5 to 9 out of 10.

Some like the controls, some think they suck. Some think the game looks great, some think it doesn't.

I'll probably just rent it.

Doesn't come out until next week. Looks like it's going to suck pretty badly, though. Hey PS3 owners, atleast Warhawk is awesome, right? That's the first game to make me wish I had a PS3.

After the IGN review, amongst the bickering in the comments section, some people are mentioning they bumped the game up to this week.

Perhaps it's so they'll have it out before review scores spread by word-of-mouth. :p

IGN is one of the review sites that I trust, and if they give it a 4.9, it sucks very badly.

I actually don't trust IGN with their reviews.

I trust EGM and Gamespot, but EGM the most.

However ... IGN and EGM seem to be in agreeance on this game sucking heh. I've also heard you can beat it in 1 day. This game is a must-pass for me.

Well, I had thought it was next week, then just figured they bumped it up, since he got it from Gamestop and they generally adhere very closely to release dates. It's always possible they goofed, though.

I used to use Gamespot all the time, but hardly ever visit there anymore. I always got the feeling that introduced their own personal likes and dislikes into their reviews and scores instead of reviewing the game based on it's own merits and comparisons against other games. I know that sounds stupid, because a review is supposed to say whether you liked it or not, but I can't quite figure out how to word what I'm thinking. I always got the feeling that scores were kind of based on how they (the reviewer) would've designed the game, not based on the actual source material, which is how I think is the wrong way to do it. Plus, I have an unhealthy hate for Jeff Gerstman, so that might have something to do with it as well :).

But with that said, that was from years ago, and I've still yet to visit their site on a regular basis.

EGM is my only magazine of choice for reviews. Game Informer is the best source for previews, though.

I also trust(most of the time) IGN with reviews, I can easily see bad implementation of the sixaxis ruining a great game, which is what happened here. Sucks because the visuals looked pretty darn good.

its just about impossible to have a completely objective review.

With all the talk about the controls, I need a demo before I pay $60 for this. Especially since its pretty short.

I disagree.

But I agree. Bias is shown in many ways, I just look for the ones that seem to show the least.
