It didn't exactly happen today but close enough. Yesterday I went into Kohl's to try on a couple watches because I wanted to see how bigger watches looked on my wrist (my current Citizen is 38mm). Turns out that despite my womanly pansy wrists a 42mm watch looks good though that's definitely the limit. But that's awesome because it opens up so many more watch options to me. I'm especially considering an AVI-8 watch, perhaps this Flyboy Lafayette:

I'd really like the Hawker II but the goddang thing is 45mm and that's just too big. FML

I finally have a proper working doorbell for my house now, which I installed yesterday. It got it's first real life test today when the UPS guy showed up with an ebay package. :D

Had a wireless one before that but it was crap, batteries would last like a few weeks and it was just ridiculous going through so many of them so just gave up. Now it's a proper wired one.

I got a $70 debit card in the mail yesterday. It's a rebate from getting tires on the truck, of which I was reimbursed the full amount paid. I'm gonna use it to get myself work related stuff that I retain ownership of. That kind of splits the difference between them getting the money, and me. Not that it really matters, cause the indebtedness from work would take forever to repay. IOW, I'm owed big time, and every day I come in is a gift :^D

I just got a Google Adsense payment. i got one in august too. I think I'm actually making more money somehow. If I can actually hit the $100 threshold each month that would be pretty good.

I still need to revamp my site iceteks.com though and decide what direction to bring it in. I think it will mostly just be a tech forum and I'll just try to post more stuff like interesting projects etc.

I kinda feel dirty using Adsense though, like, I block that crap because of all the spying and so do most people, but yet I'm actually making money off it at same time so it's also hard to justify taking it down. I eventually will though, if my site gets big enough I'll just do direct advertising.

I don't even wear a watch anymore. And I do have a nice aviation-based time piece. LOL When I was walking into Walmart some kid saw my watch from a distance and yelled, "nice clock!" Little smart ass.

No, anymore I just look at my phone to tell time.

Got my mini projector in the mail that I only paid $10 for back in September. Turns out the damn thing came straight from China. Probably won't be worth a damn, but I figured for $10 what the hell. During the Summer perhaps I can project movies on the garage door.

LOL "nice clock."

I started wearing one about two years or so ago. I had been getting more interested in watches (I prefer the classic, field style or aviation look), especially ones that don't require a battery, and decided to finally get one. I view them as only partially for keeping time, I just like the look of them as jewelry or an accessory more than that.

Xbox had a free demo for Forza 7 and I learned I'm not interested in it.
Went back and found renewed interest in Forza 6. Made some progress in the career mode.

At mom's house. I needed to "fix her computer", so I came up today. It was an issue with wifi at the modem/router. Since that unit runs everything, and I'm not familiar with phone service, I was reluctant to use the master reset. I unplugged the unit, and... it didn't turn off; has a battery :^/

Unplugged the laptop, and got an ethernet cord to hook directly to it, enter the address, and I just get the spinning circle of despair. Sigh... Battery's about dead, so I take it upstairs, and am about ready to tell my mother to call comcast, but after hooking it up to power, it connects to wifi no problem. Not really sure what happened there, but it's working, so good enough. I updated her machine, and removed the close button from the gui(long story), and everything's grand.

First world triumph? She made bean soup, so I got her bean soup for dinner, and leftovers to take home. Score!

It was a nice day today. It barely hit 60F, and there was a nice breeze. Morning was overcast with a few drops of rain, so it made for a nice drive in the country on the way to a job. Window down, heat cracked on, classical on the radio, and fall happening. Just about perfect :^)

MTB wasn't indexing right last week. Got ready to ride today but decided to have a look. Rear derailleur cable is seriously frayed. The newish back tire is also a bust. Called the local store that closes at 3PM, 2:40....nada. eff.

The upside? I wasn't 30 min out with a broken cable or a flat.

Oh and I finally got around to watching The Middle and its a lot better than I expected.

Patricia Heaton still gets bitchy sometimes. Frankie is not as horrible as Debra but still annoying.

It was an amazing fall day. Started off 41°, and never hit 50°. It was sunny, then became cloudy and rain later; perfect!

Boss gave me a bottle each of Chimay red and blue. Drinking the red now. It's his favorite beer, and wanted me to try it. It's very good. Nice and malty, but not too much so. I'd consider getting it every so often.

Finally, I can look forward to the new Empyrean Atlas album. It released this week, and my fuck off time at the office gave me a chance to download it.

PS, DST is fuckin' gone!!! All's right with the world til next year!

Got my laptop delivered by FedEx today. Now the long process of installing Win 7, configuring and reinstalling all the games and programs from my other laptop. Thank God I bought a 32 GB USB drive not too long ago. That should help with moving data.

I just finished going in the opposite direction. The existing wired doorbell only had one ringer and had no transformer to power it. You had use a big ass 6v lantern battery. I need ringers in different parts of the house so I can be sure to hear them - rec room, bedroom hallway, basement. and I needed to know which doorbell had been pushed so I could go to the right door.

I got an electronic setup with 3 programmable ringers and 2 door bells. I pulled out the old buttons and filled the holes, repainted and mounted the new buttons with velcro and gorilla glue. It looks a lot better than it sounds.

The buttons use small 12v batteries that last forever. I just recently replaced the one for my mailbox transmitter that gets use virtually every day and it's been at least a few years since the last time I replaced it.

Yeah for me it used small 12v batteries too but for some reason they die within a few months and the range was crap, like I had to put the unit within like 15 feet. Brick house though, maybe why. Could be the doorbell unit itself is faulty too. But instead of looking at another wireless just went wired, and it should last the life time of the house. Those older style Zenith ones are pretty much bulletproof. Actually I was curious and looked up Zenith and it looks like it's basically dead now, like the company exists but they're now some kind of licensing/R&D company. They were the cat's ass way back in the day. :D

Speaking of cat's ass, I have fresh coffee that just brewed in the kitchen but my cat is on me purring so I can't go get it.
