We've had two days without rain...so I took a chance and mowed the lawn. Grass was 8-10" tall in some spots...which, of course, are the dog's preferred poop spots. Got it mowed and MOSTLY weed whacked...starting to feel a few drops.

Lol...I think we got two inches total over the entire winter.

And...thunderstorm rolled in...electricity gone out. Fck...right as we're starting dinner.

The power is so unstable in my area now. Every time there's a thunderstorm I pretty much just brace for it to be out for an hour or so. Sometimes not even a storm it just happens out of nowhere in summer. At least it's never for long though and I have enough battery to ride through it.

'They' say we're almost two inches below normal for the month. I don't see how ... I still have mud and puddles in a few places. Been a few days without rain, but storms forecast for the weekend, just like last weekend.

Got pulled over for speeding this morning. The occifer had just taken my license and registration heading back to his truck to write the ticket when he turned around, handed them back and said, “I got another call; today is your lucky day”, and left.

Got my pre-physical bloodwork results back. My cholesterol was really good a few years ago, but has been creeping up and was at 232 last year (LDL was 141).

I replaced whole milk with soy milk, cut out deli meats (and by extension eat less cheese), and over the winter started walking almost every day in addition to my usual workout at night.

Dropped my total down to 180 and LDL down to 98. I call that a win! :)

Yeah, I eat steel cut oats with soy milk 2-3 times a week, other days it's muesli or an egg/cheese sandwich, and I always have fruit and walnuts with breakfast no matter what I eat.

Either way, I never gave up red meat but I only eat it 1-2 times a week.

Librecalc completed the job in less than 10 minutes without freezing!

One of the few times that fan noise actually helped. I was estimating the same 20 minutes or longer for Librecalc to finish but the fan noise died down which made me go look at the PC the job was running on and it was done.

Started my taxes today. It's gotten a little more complicated than previous years, and it's a rat's nest of documentation/forms. Seems like every time I'd look something up, it would refer to yet more bullshit. It's like allowing scripts on a site, and every time you allow a script or two, it calls up more of it's buddies. I was thinking of just saying "Fuck it. I'll simplify, and deal with it later if I get a nastygram". Looked up tax software, and on a whim, looked up "tax software linux". That lead to opentaxsolver...

It isn't pretty, it isn't particularly nice, but it seems to work. Doesn't include my state, but I'm hoping having the federal done makes the state easy. Anyway, it solved some of the irritation I was feeling an hour or so ago.

Sold my circa 1985 Adcom 555 w/preamp and Polk towers to a rock and roll friend for a great price. I have no room for a large setup and i'm positive he will put it to good use. The amp is a beast, crank up the Floyd!

I placed an order on some Darn Tough Socks around February and already one of the socks generated a hole at the seam. I contacted their customer service for an exchange, and after I sent them a picture of the sock, they said to keep it and they'll send out a new pair. I got the order # for tracking so they're getting the exchange started. Was disappointed the sock got a hole after a short time of using, but they're other socks have been flawless and they're customer service was great! Highly recommend!

That sounds like a zero-sum first world problem/reverse first world problem to me.

Somehow avoided a major car accident and I'm not even sure how.

I just crossed an intersection and beat the red light (was turning yellow).. and I'm driving 30 MPH.. and I hear tires screeching somewhere behind me and next thing I see is this Mercedes coming fast as hell and he has nowhere to go.. almost hit me but then tried zig zagging and lost control.

As he's trying to swerve.. I am still in shock but I move to the right on the shoulder to allow him to pass me.. and he goes straight through and then turns hard left almost wrecking another oncoming car.

How we were both not hit.. I have no clue.. but got lucky.. VERY LUCKY!

Not complaining.
