i just though of this one, look through their internet temp folders for any reference to porn sites, im sure you can think of a couple of key words, then email them trying to sound all official that their constant visits to porn sites is slowing down the network or something like that, or perhaps you can anonoumusly email them and scare then about their porn habit at work.

or sumit their email addys to some of those porn emails a day things, where you receive pron in the mail everyday.

Who let the Dogg out?

Careful with the faulty hub on the switch. We did a similar thing here with a 4-port to split a single line and not only did it erode that segment, it started yanking on the rest of the LAN.

Now if you're running NT boxes, nothing like a good remote Reg Hack! Mmmm, mmm good.

You can install the Dnet client and run rc5 on it.
Set it for a higher priority then the lowest setting it is at,
run it has a service
and have it stop running when the task manager is opened.

Yes this can be done. :)

The POS Hewlett-Crappard at the office crash because of DNET. I used to it as a service but the tiny heatsinks couldn't take it. Some got so hot they they burn my hand. :(

hmmm... all the people I hate have laptops? Did people know that DNET runs when the laptop is sleeping?

Adul: I'd also like that info if possible. Thanks

Windogg: a few suggestions:

1) I'd suggest some caution with the hub plan: after a few days people are bound to complain to somebody higher than you, and if it goes on too long, they'll probably consider you incapable and hire someone else to fix your problems, and if that happens the plot will be discovered. An on/off switch would be recommended (if it's possible to get a remote-controllable UPS), and time the slowdowns strategically (e.g. when you hear someone saying "damn, I need to finish this report ASAP").

2) Why have the p75's ping each other? set up a few to ping the annoyers. Or get some "network monitoring utilities"...the fun ones, not the legal ones, e.g. Backorifice, etc. When their boss is passing by, make a porn page come up and lock up their computer. If their first instinct is to press Alt-f4, they probably won't have time for a second one.

3) Set up the associations for whatever document type they use to to open up a web browser to a porn site. If they have IE, the following association should work:

"C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore.exe" http://www.pornstars.com/

4) Combine #2 and #3 for some fun. Make their program "crash" before their boss comes by. Before they re-open it, change their associations (this will probably require exporting a .reg file with the association on it to their computer and just running that), and when they try to re-open it as their boss comes by, they're in for a heart-stopping shock.

Think I have what it takes to join the IT manager community?

I think adul's last idea would be the easiest, most intelligent, and most productive. :)

Windogg, the best part of revenge is not having to do a lot of work for it. ;) That makes the revenge that much sweeter!

Set the person they hate the most (preferably their boss) as an Alternate Recipient of their e-mail. They are bound to talk $hit about this person at some point in the work day via e-mail. Chances are the hated (boss) won't even realize they are getting someone else's e-mail until they've read the incriminating evidence and assumed that it was an accidental delivery at best. That should work beautifully. WinVNC to their computer too and just screw with them whenever you're frustrated or bored out of your mind.

warning with messing with the priority

The higher the client's priority, the greater will be its demand for
processor time. The operating system will fulfill this demand only after
the demands of other processes with a higher or equal priority are fulfilled
first. At priority zero, the client will get processing time only when all
other processes are idle (give up their chance to run). At priority nine, the
client will always get CPU time unless there is a time-critical process
waiting to be run - this is obviously not a good idea unless the client is
running on a machine that does nothing else.
*Warning*: Running the Win32 client at any priority level other than zero is
destructive to Operating System safety. Win32's thread scheduler is not nice.
Besides, a zero priority does not mean that the client will run slower than at
a higher priority. It simply means that all other processes have a better
*chance* to get processor time than client. If none of them want/need processor
time, the client will get it. Do *not* change the value of this option unless
you are intimately familiar with the way Win32 thread scheduling works.

For some reason, the priority settings never made any difference on my computer, maybe I should try it on the P166's at school ;)

As for the taskmgr.exe method, that'll pause it, but won't it still be running and show up in the list? And won't that only work for NT/2k? Do you happen to have a method for win95/98/me?

Well depends what you want it to pause on. It can pause on anything.

Weyoun
This is for all windows versions.

Windogg thanks, the distributed forums sure helped me learn this stuff. :)

Prtender, yes it will still be running, but it will sit idle. Yes it will only work for Nt/2k. Has for windows 9x, you can make it pause on any that loads.

Yeah, that's called a virus. His purppose is to piss people off, not waste time reinstalling windows and other programs.
