I saw him speak briefly at a concert. I think it was DC Talk and Micheal W. Smith. I didnt wanna go. Mom shoved me on the bus and sent me to the Metrodome.

Truly a terrible loss. Hopefully we don't lose every single other televangelist as soon as possible.
I'm in no way a religious person but even I know Graham wasn't like many of the others. The impression I always had was he was in it because he believed it and wanted to share that faith with others. I might be wrong but I have no feeling he was in it for the fame or money etc...

I knew a guy once who was in it because he truly believed he was the second coming of Christ. Another terrible loss for humanity when he passed.

Nope. He wasn't like that. He openly publicized what he earned, took only a salary, and turned down a lot of lucrative offers. No god jets or yachts for this man of the cloth. He's one of the good ones.
How did that son become so vile??

I don't think much of Mr. Graham's chosen profession but as folks in his line of work go, he wasn't terrible. He was one of the first prominent Protestant preachers to reach across the color bar at a time when the move could have been career killing.

I expect the cynical will be out in force, but I agree with your assessment. The current crop of TV evangelists of note simply cannot compare.

Billy was a pretty good guy for his time. His son, Franklin is an adomination, however. And while Billy was rather honest and moral, he was pretty much the granddaddy evangelist. So, his movement sparked what is today the most destructive interest group of amoral, selfish, antidemocratic twats on the planet: evangelicals.

I took the risk of being cut to "like" your post because it hit the nail on the head!

Well he was first among his peers, although the peer group is not one I'd like to associate with. I think he did some real good in the world; certainly had a lot of influence anyway.

What are the chances of his chatting with the creator of universe at this very moment?
