HP LP2065 and Dell 2007FP, if you win the lottery (which has actually been higher IPS lately). No widescreens that I am aware of.

At that price you might decide you want an LCD2490WUXi (24" H-IPS) though.
Well if you really want a nice dual setup then I might suggest two HP LP2065s or Dell 2007FPs, but that might be out of your budget.
I just don't think bigger TNs work well in dual setups. Although, the L227 is about as good as you can get for a TN panel. I don't feel at this point that any 20" monitors exceed the L227. The volume of 20" panels on the market has become very low in relativity to 22" and 24-27".
The HP w2007 or Samsung 2053BW are respectable choices though if you don't want to go 22".
No clue, but I would definitely buy a new one and not bother with sending it in. The HP LP2065 or Dell 2007FP are good replacements.
Ironic you took back the Samsung because you wanted a Samsung panel. 😉
I don't see anything in their policy about $250, or even a restocking fee. You should be able to return it and get a refund??

I'm thrilled it worked out for you. I am also sitting in front of the L227 (and 17" Xerox TN) here at college in absence of my higher end ones at home, but I have to say it doesn't make that much of a difference. 😛 The L227's contrast is amazing. My only complaint is the inevitably, relatively poor viewing angles of TN panels. Grays also aren't that great, but again, TNs.
For games I would recommend not using any of the f-Engine modes, just the Normal one. Because the other modes distort things a lot, unless you are watching movies or TV, where sometimes I like the Movie f-Engine mode. Use Normal and tune it to be comfortable to your eyes. You can also mess with the gamma [correction] setting. Higher will reveal brighter midtones, lower will make everything more dark.

I am having sooo much trouble purchasing a new 20" LCD in Chile. There are not many > 19" LCDs available here. Mostly they are from Samsung and Viewsonic. Also, they are usually one or two models behind (no T220 for me)... I need an LCD mostly for gaming and the Viewsonics tend to be not so reactive (at best 5ms), so I am looking at the Samsungs.
Unfortunately, all the Samsung screens available here use panels from CPT. I am left deciding between the 206BW and the 2032BW. I am leaning toward the 206BW since it was shown to have less input lag, but I am not sure if this is only for the S version! Which is the lesser of two evils if I have to choose a CPT panel? Please help me out, I have been trying to buy this damn thing for a month. I don´t want to be stuck with something that has poor overdrive or obvious and incorrectable colour inaccuracies. Thanks.

I've got my LG L227WTG-PF and I love it. I went into the Nvidia control panel and setup a custom resolution of 72hz for the refresh rate and it works fine. If I try anything above 72 it doesn't work. Is it ok to run the LCD past its recommend refresh rate? It looks better I think and the LCD does report it as running at 72hz when I hit the OSD button.

Looking to upgrade to H/S-IPS monitor(s) soon. We use the 30" Apple's at work and I love them. Finding my dual 20" Samsung's becoming an eye sore next to that panel.
Anyways, what I am wondering is, I haven't really had much luck searching around a little so far on finding S-IPS monitors. So I am looking for some help/suggestions.
My only real requirements it be either 30" for single or I can do duals in the 20-24" range. I would prefer a single though, been using dual for so long. Budget, I'd like to keep it under $2500.

No TN panels have much input lag. So, you are safe either way. I saw the input lag for the AUO and CMO panels and they were not bad.
Then I'd probably avoid Samsung altogether and look at what ViewSonic has to offer. How are the return policies there?
Yeah it's almost certainly fine. I haven't messed with using >60 Hz on the L227 myself, but I may experiment with that. If I recall, its EDID does not advertise >=72Hz refresh rates for the native, but you are forcing and using 1680x1050?
NEC LCD3090WQXi, or two 3007WFP-HCs for about the same price. I assume you already know how to use color management properly.
The 3007WFP-HC will be good for gaming, the LCD3090 will be alright for gaming ( see http://www.hardforum.com/showt...=gaming#post1032480045 ) and deliver higher image quality with more calibration options.

Thanks for the reply xtknight. The newest Viewsonic 20" I can find is the VA2026. There is basically nothing available in the way of reviews, hardly even gets a mention when googled. Its also a 5ms model and I don´t know how noticeable that will be.
Does anyone have any direct experience with the Samsung 206BW CPT version or can point me to an objective review? I found a review of the Samsung 2032BW CPT version and it wasn´t pretty...
Not much idea on the return policy. Probably a screen would have to be defective for me to return it. I will not buy from anywhere that won´t accept returns for dead pixels though, at least in the first week.

Well it's up to you. You did say you weren't happy with your first decision so I was suggesting two VA/IPS panels as more of a failsafe solution. Two L227s would probably be fine, regardless. But two 4:3 panels basically equals a 8:3 widescreen panel, right? 🙂 I can almost guarantee you would be happier with two of the 20" standard non-TN monitors but to each his own. I own the L227 and it's a great single panel but I'm not sure they'd work that well in a dual setup. It seems to me that a dual of these would be way too wide. I used a 20" dual setup the other day and now I'm green with envy.
I'm trying to narrow down my options for a new LCD. I've read through the guide extensively, and don't know if I should go with the Planar PX2611W or the NEC LCD2690. I want an LCD for both gaming and movies with good color quality. IPS monitors seem to be where it's at. I'm not all that picky as long as the LCD is fairly fast for games, so I'm not sure if I'll see a visible difference between the two.

The PX2611W is the best choice not only because it has less input lag than the LCD2690, but it's also cheaper. The extra calibration options and slight quality advantage of the LCD2690 are not worth it for 99% of the public.
You may however want to wait for the DuobleSight DS-265W. It'll be out any day now (seriously).

I've been waiting for the Doublesight 265W for a few months now.
I bought a Samsung 226CW for home last fall, and it's been good, but not great. The viewing angles are kinda poor and the color calibration is lacking for photo editing or artwork (its a TN panel). I've enjoyed it, but I'm looking to upgrade to an IPS panel for better color. My Dell 2007WFP at work is awesome in terms of color, and viewing angle, but I don't know what type of panel it is and they are impossible to find anymore, plus I'd prefer to stay at 24" or go up to 26".
So I've been looking at the Doublesight 263N(265W), Planar PX2611, NEC 2690WUXi and I've been holding off on an actual buying decision until I saw the specs on the Doublesight 265W. Now I've looked at it on Newegg and the Doublesight site, and compared specs with the other two and there are a couple factors that are making me think over my decision:
I use a self-standing monitor shelf, so the new monitor stand on the DS265W was never a factor. What does bug me is the Doublesight 265W has a big bezel. Fine if you are running this on its own, but I may include a square Dell LCD to the side for extra desktop real estate, and the wider bezel would make for a big dead space between the monitors. Plus, the 265W appears to have built in speakers (perhaps why the bezel is so wide now). I have a pair of nicely sounding Swans D1080 MKII and don't need any speakers on my LCD monitor.
Additionally, the Planar PX2611 and Doublesight 265W both have a 3yr warranty compared to the 4yr warranty on the NEC 2690Wuxi. And the Planar and Doublesight models both run at 135Watts while the NEC is specified to run at 111Watts. The 24 Watt difference is enough to make me think about it. I haven't done the math to see what 24 Watts fewer would actually save me in energy cost but I do spend hours in front of my computer. It's kinda like a decision to buy a good chair - you're rewarded over time for the initial cost. And while we're on the NEC praise - it comes with the antiglow polarizer that the PX and DS lack, and the NEC is supposed to have better interface controls, back-light management, and better color calibration than the other two. But is all that worth the extra $400? It might be.
I am still pondering... finding a Doublesight 263N (no speakers and small bezel) is still possible, though they wont be around long. And the NEC 30" is a friggin wet dream come true for color calibration (if the specifications are correct), though the cost in dollars and energy is too much for my budget.
So I may end up getting the NEC 2690WUXi. Don't you have the NEC 2690 xtknight? If you had to make this choice TODAY, would you go with the NEC?

The NEC LCD2690wuxi is a dream monitor. I have one right now but I'm giving it to my parents. It's got an internal power supply and for such a large screen, it means you're gonna hear the transformer buzzing alot.
The Doublesight DS-265W sounds like what I want...pretty much the same features as the NEC but without the A-TW polarizer, and an external power brick.
I tried out the Apple Cinema Display...external power supply, which is excellent...but no adjustable height (or even pivot), no HDCP compliance, no internal scaler...ugh. Basically lacks any redeeming features for its price.
Problem with Doublesight is availability...the 265W is only available on newegg right now. But newegg is about as bad as a place as you can get for LCD monitors...no returns, if it has less than 8 dead pixels, then "deal with it..." I'm not gonna drop $800-900 so I can "deal with it" after Newegg pockets a couple hundred $ in profit.
Gonna wait until its available with actual "legitimate" e-tailers...until then, gonna hook up my computer to my TV.

I have a Dell 2008WFP, and I hate the way color gradients look on it. Not sure what it's called either.. 😱 basically, the gradients produced look like 8-bit color or even worse. That said, I wouldn't mind another Dell as long as it does not suffer from this same problem.
I am debating between getting another 22" 1680x1050 or a 24" 1920x1200.
My Dell 20"/22" choices are:

S2409W 24-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor
The Ultrasharp costs significantly more than the other two. (More than US$300 difference)
