Rollo - people are tired of you and that's including Nvidia owners. It's obvious you have an agenda and can't make comments w/out some bias. It's New Year's Eve. Go drink some of your fancy beer and enjoy the holidays.

Interesting how you continue shat on the face of the moderation in the video forum with your idiotic self promotion.
Who's shittin* on moderation?
The guy (Ackmed) who calls people "ignorant" in every other thread he posts in, or the guy (Rollo) who points it out and asks him to stop?
What "self promotion"? Asking Ackmed to stop his never ending stream of petty name calling somehow promotes me?
😕

Seems to suggest that:
1. There is a need for a Video Forum Moderator
2. That you would represent a fair and balanced approach, as opposed to the current approach.
I don't believe either to be true, and seems insulting to the current Video forum Mods IMO.
As far as Ackmed, go cry about it in FI.

I suppose that's one way to take my signature, another would be that I'd like to help the mods and the guy that came up with the Fair and Balanced thinks those qualities make me a good candidate.
I didn't start the whole "Rollo for Mod" sig, I think people mostly have it to show they agree with what I do here.
As far as Ackmed goes, I'm just waiting for his response to the question of how he's proven his own intellect since he seems to love to question others.
I don't think what his wife looks like or how big his belly is gives us any understanding of why he loves to call other members ignorant. 🙁
Maybe you all should start your own video forum then? In fact, I've seen other video forums now being advertised in AT member sigs as well. IMO, those types of proclamations are hurtfull to AT, particularly the video forum. If you all don't like it...leave is my advice.I didn't start the whole "Rollo for Mod" sig, I think people mostly have it to show they agree with what I do here.

Ackmed you should apologize for calling people ignorant so many times. Rollo proved it.
Also Ackmed: if you have a big belly I would suggest you eat healthier and maybe start a walking program.
Don't victimize yourself.Originally posted by: Rollo
It obvious I'm just the latest victim of Ackmed's insults, as I posted 12 links to him calling people ignorant lately.
Don't you think those of us he's called ignorant have a right to know a little about the intelligence of the man calling us ignorant?!
LOL if the 25Mhz OC is "what's to come", I'm sure nVidia is sleeping soundly.
...
By the looks of that 20# hsf, the vast OCing potential of the X1800XT is readily apparent!
Thats pretty ignorant thinking. Just because Asus doesnt overclock it a lot, doesnt mean it cant. My BFG is only 30Mhz above the stock core, but I clocked it up another 30Mhz.

Oh, so you are going to flame the OP in his thread too? What exactly do you bring to the AT video forum?

I didn't realize it was a flame? I've not yet brought anything to the video forum, because if I did, I might be called ignorant.
I was simply stating my opinion, as a new user, and offering a little advice. Obesity is a big health problem theses days, and it can cause a heart attack. If Ackmed has a big belly, then he could have health problems and possibly lower back pain. I have friends that are fat so I know what I'm talking about.
This thread is an OT train wreck, but I guess that's one way to keep the deal at the top of the page. 🙂Originally posted by: ElFenix

FWIW - From Jan 1-14 Microcenter is having their Annual 20% off BYOPC Sale, including graphic cards. The ATI x1800xt is $599 but take 20% off and w/ the $50 rebate, we're now talking $430 plus tax. Wow!!!

I dunno, while ~$500 is a pretty good price for an 1800XT, I'd probably hold off for the next gen. If the rumors are right, you should be able to get a 512MB next-gen R580/G71 for about $600 in about two months. That's probably worth waiting for if the next gen will bring 50% higher performance in future, FEAR-like (and probably UE3-engine) games.
GO ATI!

Hey Ackmed, I took a look at DFI Forums and nvnews.net, and it says *Banned* under your avatar.
What's up with that? Did they get mad at ytou for calling them ignorant? 😉
Does anyone else find it ironic that this individual accuses people of having no life if they quote what he's said in the past?Hey Ackmed, I took a look at DFI Forums and nvnews.net, and it says *Banned* under your avatar.

well, no. you are correct that the GTX puts a soft ceiling on the price of the XT. when the GTX's price drops, the demand line for the XT shifts inward, making the market clearing price of the XT lower, ceteris paribus. but, if there isn't enough demand at a higher price there is actually too much quantity supplied, not too much supply. so then the price drops, and as the price drops the quantity supplied decreases until it equals the quantity demanded at the market clearing price point.Originally posted by: Rollo
You are correct that less supply is a component of higher pricing for the 7800GTX 512. I believe I am correct in that the X1800XT won't create enough demand at a price that is significantly higher than the 7800GTX 256, and the lack of demand at the higher price lead to increased supply and a downward shift in price.
but, it's only a soft ceiling because ati could restrict supply, moving it inward, to keep the price up at the expense of quantity sold. that isn't often a profit-maximizing move in a market with large fixed costs (development), as there are large economies of scale to be had.
