1. There is a need for a Video Forum Moderator
2. That you would represent a fair and balanced approach, as opposed to the current approach.

I don't believe either to be true, and seems insulting to the current Video forum Mods IMO.

I suppose that's one way to take my signature, another would be that I'd like to help the mods and the guy that came up with the Fair and Balanced thinks those qualities make me a good candidate.

I think the mods have made it clear that they don't need your kind of help, in fact it seems you push the forum rules, (and more than once have teetered on the edge of a permanent ban), if not technically, then certainly the spirit of what their intent is...while at the same time Championing yourself for the role of "keeper" of the rules. Ironic.

Maybe you all should start your own video forum then? In fact, I've seen other video forums now being advertised in AT member sigs as well. IMO, those types of proclamations are hurtfull to AT, particularly the video forum. If you all don't like it...leave is my advice.

Thats pretty ignorant thinking. Just because Asus doesnt overclock it a lot, doesnt mean it cant. My BFG is only 30Mhz above the stock core, but I clocked it up another 30Mhz.

I was simply stating my opinion, as a new user, and offering a little advice. Obesity is a big health problem theses days, and it can cause a heart attack. If Ackmed has a big belly, then he could have health problems and possibly lower back pain. I have friends that are fat so I know what I'm talking about.

I dunno, while ~$500 is a pretty good price for an 1800XT, I'd probably hold off for the next gen. If the rumors are right, you should be able to get a 512MB next-gen R580/G71 for about $600 in about two months. That's probably worth waiting for if the next gen will bring 50% higher performance in future, FEAR-like (and probably UE3-engine) games.

well, no. you are correct that the GTX puts a soft ceiling on the price of the XT. when the GTX's price drops, the demand line for the XT shifts inward, making the market clearing price of the XT lower, ceteris paribus. but, if there isn't enough demand at a higher price there is actually too much quantity supplied, not too much supply. so then the price drops, and as the price drops the quantity supplied decreases until it equals the quantity demanded at the market clearing price point.

but, it's only a soft ceiling because ati could restrict supply, moving it inward, to keep the price up at the expense of quantity sold. that isn't often a profit-maximizing move in a market with large fixed costs (development), as there are large economies of scale to be had.

Do you have perchance a sister who is willing to date a slightly hippy like computer lover and writer in the Northwest? Such logic is so rare and wondrous in this forum of emotional vitriol that I think a gentle tear is beginning to course down my cheek!

I still find it hard to drop 450.00 bones on either a 7800GTX or X1800XT at this point with new cards coming out within six weeks. If this was August (when I got my 7800GTX) and cards still were four months or more away I would say buy. Just my opinion.
