This morning my Girlfriends pet cat "Cliffy" died at the vet while under going medical treatment because he was baited(poisoned) by some slack bastard yesterday.

I'm not much of a cat person but I had grown to love this little fur ball as he always could put a smile on your face from his funny antics, wether it be chasing his tail for hours on end or falling out of a tree, he could always make you laugh.

My Girlfriend is especially heartbroken as it was her first pet cat ever and had put a lot of time and effort in to looking after him, they were practically inseparable, where she was, he was.

Cliffy was a good natured cat who didn't have an aggressive bone in his body, he never scratched or hissed at anybody, not even my young sisters who used to carry him around by the scuff of the neck and tread on him as he chased them about the back yard.

Cliffy was a 7 and half month old Siamese/Russian blue cross male kitten, he was completely grey except for some white patches on his belly and paws.

He was a happy cat, always purring and rubbing up against your legs when he wasn't eating bugs or his favourite cat food - Whiskas Pilchards and Whiting.

The vet who had tried to help poor Cliffy had made it pretty clear that he was deliberately poisoned by commercial baits that are used to killed foxes/wild dogs and feral cats.
He also told me that this has been happening quite a lot lately.

He was burried in his favourite blanket, with his teddy that he had chewed to bits, under the tree he was used to get stuck up or fall out of.

We only knew him for a short time but he enriched our lives forever and will be loved and remembered.

Goodbye my furry little mate, you will be missed :(

I'm sorry I couldn't protect you and let you down.

This is going to come off sounding like an ass, but I don't mean it to be that way. You and your G/F have my condolences.

Now, how did the cat get poisoned? I'm going to take a guess it wandered on to someone else's property?

People poison cats that come around mearly for that reason, they are tired of them wondering into their yard and crapping in it. I'm not saying that I am in favor of this, I find it pretty cruel, just stating the reason that people do it.

Sorry to hear about the cat

How horrible... I'm so sorry, RIP Clifford.

I sincerely hope that the people responsible for his death are found and punished. :(

The solution is for pet owners to be responsible and not allow their pet to wander about.

Point understood but I don't know that I've ever seen cat crap outside.

No, he couldn't climb the fences(I have seen him trying numerous times but always gave up cause he couldn't jump high enougth to reach the top) that surround our yard as they were to high for him to climb, all of the gates had wire mesh at the bottoms to stop him from going under them, as we live on a main road and this was to prevent him from getting run over.

from what the vet has told me, all of the other cats and dogs that have died from the same poison in last month or so(there has been over 30 animals killed)died in their yards or at the vet after being found poisoned.

We found Cliffy in his cat box near the back door yestaday morning, he was covered in cat vomite and was already in shock.

the poor little fellow looked so scared when we took him to the vet, he could barely move or breathe, I wish I could say that he didn't suffer, but I know this isn't true.

Something like that happened to me. My cat had bladder stones and the doctor "accidently" left one stuck in his penis. He built up so much pressure his bladder exploded inside and his body filled with toxins and he died :(
