She was drunk, big deal. I applaud you for giving her a place to stay. Thankfully no one tried to drive her home. Next time, throw her out in the cold, she'll sober up. j/k You did the right thing.

I haven't read the entire thread, but in the future, considering calling health services if you have someone very sick. Where I went to school, the wouldn't turn anyone into the police, even if the individual was underage.

Call 911 if you want her to be totally pissed at you... and to have to pay a $5000 ambulance bill. Just make her drink some water and keep an eye on her.

If she's trashed enough to sh|t herself, better fvcking call 911.

finally, reason!

"omg, this girl had a lot to drink and now she's throwing up! now she's done and she's just asleep on the bed, should i call 911?"
it's sweet of you to be this concerned, but it isn't necessary. just keep a bucket/towels you don't care about by the bed for when she throws up again (because she WILL throw up again), and for the love of God please don't have any lights on or sound of any kind in the room she's asleep in. she's going to be in a world of hurt tomorrow (they're called hangovers), and every one of her 5 senses is on a fvckin firewire 8.0 realtime high priority direct line to the pain center of the brain. like it's been said before, don't let her sleep on her back and she'll most likely be fine.

The truth is that in quite a few of these situations reason demands that you call 911. I had to do just that on New Year's for a girl, and it's a damn good thing I did. I found out a few weeks later that she had a 3.0. For someone that hadn't been drinking in over half-a-year, that is damn high. 4.0 is dead for many people. A true friend will make that call, rather than risk a life. And a true friend will not get pissed that you made that call.

Unless the girl started chocking on her vomit or started skitzing out, calling 911 would only cause problems. The ambulance would show up at his place, she'd get busted for underage drinking, someone gets a bill, blah blah blah.

Health care providers have much more to worry about than whether or not the person coming in for alcohol poisoning is underage. You watch too many movies.

I am assuming you meant 0.30 because death occurs at 0.40.

wtf are people so stupid they don't see a problem here? jeez she should have been busted. If she's getting so wasted that she ends up in a bed with an idiot like Deeko who also drinks illegally, then she needs to lay off the alcohol :)

Ya know...I just started drinking a few months ago, and before I did, I was one of maybe...5 people in my building that didn't drink. You saying they should ALL be arrested? And as to the little Deeko joke...you have much to learn about me...

i don't know about being arrested but they should all be disciplined. Breaking the law while fully well knowing its illegal is just stupid. I've read too many stories about stupid kids dying from alcohol poisoning in my life time. And true, I don't know you personally, but from what I have learned from your posts, is that you need to grow up kid. Imagine if that girl would have died. Just think about that

Last night I was in a frenzy, because a) I'd never been in that situation before and b) I wasn't exactly sober myself.
All of you who kept crying for 911, I'm glad I didn't take your advice, no offense. She was NOT that bad, she actually woke up around 3:30ish and was up and active. There was much worse going on on my floor than this(another girl had alcohol poisoning), my situation was not exactly extreme.

As to personal comments, look, I was drunk, do you expect me to hold my tongue? Of course not. And frankly, I'm sick of the attitude of many AT'ers. You act as if you're perfect, as if you've never done anything wrong, and as if anyone who DOES do something wrong is a horrible, horrible person. Everyone has bad nights sometimes, you don't have to be a d!ck about it. I came here last night, worried, looking for ideas, not criticism.

And in case you were wondering, I was in no way in the wrong last night. This girl is not from my school(she goes a few miles down the road), she was visiting my school, had no place to go, she wasn't technically my guest, the girl who originally signed her in(who lives down the hall from me) was in almost as bad a state, so I took the initiative to make sure she got back from the party & was ok. You can call me a child, you can call me whatever name you want, but the fact of the matter is I ended my night very early for her sake, I checked on her every 5 or 10 minutes until she woke up, I did nothing wrong here, and she agrees, she was extremely grateful this morning. So don't please don't give me the holier than thou attitude.

Deeko,

Everything I've read suggests that you went WAY out of you way to help someone who could nout help herself. You were, simply put, being a "nice guy". Good job.

Dude, I overreacted, if I had called 911, when they got here, they would haev smacked me. She was fine, she was coherent when I woke her up, and she was up for several hours after 3:30. Calling the cops would have been the worst thing I could have done.

Are you a disgruntled 90 year old? I got lucky this time because what, I didn't get arrested for drinking, or because she is ok? If the first, umm....you know my school's shuttle drops us off at a bar? Unless I get arrested for something else and underage drinking is appended on, I highly highly doubt I am getting arrested for drinking. And for the second, umm....no, I didn't get lucky, she was in no way close to bad enough to go to the hospital, 9 other people from my school went to the hospital that night for alcohol(a school record at that), so I'm pretty sure there are people who recognize when that needs to be done, and no one even mentioned having her called in too. Nice try though.

No I?m not a 90 year old, just a lot more mature than you apparently. And when I said you got lucky this time, I was referring to the girl. As far as the school dropping you off at a bar, you do realize that there are students that are over the age of 21? There is nothing wrong with alcohol if you drink responsibly and treat it with respect. Your actions show how irresponsible you are.

I have picked up many minors passed out on drugs/alcohol and the police are not notified. Parents, yes, if they are under 18.

People telling you to give her food/water are idiots. If a person is that out of it the chances of her choking on anything you give her are huge. Don't be stupid about it next time, call the fricking ambulance or take her to the ER yourself.

heh, you can think I'm immature if you want, again it shows that you have alot to learn, regardless of how mature you think you are, as I am probably the most mature and responsible person on my floor. The Drexel shuttle is pretty much only used by on campus students, which is 90% freshmen and sophmores. Upperclassmen live off campus. So the shuttle pretty much just transports underclassmen. And tell me how I am irresponsible, I guess you consider it irresponsible to go home several hours early, do your best to put your drunkness out of your mind, and then check up on the person every few minutes for 2 hours? That sounds really irresponsible to me.

Let me point something else out to all of you STILL calling for an ambulance. There already WAS an ambulance at my dorm, like I said, there was a girl on my floor with alcohol poisoning. The RA's on my floor saw me bring her to my room, and were aware of her state, were sober, and are more experienced at this, and I spoke to my RA, he said don't have the public safety people in to look at her, that she wasn't THAT bad, and that it would be alot more trouble than good for all of us. I put alot of trust in my RA, I have a great deal of respect for him, and he turned out to be right.

Ask him how long he has been in the emergency medical field. He got lucky and just didn't want it reported because it would (could) reflect poorly on the school. I cant say anything because I never saw her, but people do die from etoh poisoning or airway problems. Just to be clear, I was not there but she did sound like she could have used some ER Tx. If nothing else, she would think twice before getting that hammered again.

Well, like you said, you weren't there. If you had seen her, you would have said she didn't need it either. I was really really overreacting that night.

if you think that's mature Deeko, then you really are an idiot. A mature responsible person would not have gotten in that situation in the first place. Someday, you'll learn hopefully. Let this be a lesson to you

Excuse me, moron, but shut up before you make yourself look worse. Its not like I was the one passing out drunk. So what situation shouldn't I have gotten myself in? Not gone out, sat at home Saturday night? Sounds like a hoot. Or what, not put myself in the situation of helping her? So I should have left her there on the sofa with no one she knows around, to end up god only knows where in the morning? You can keep going on with your sh!t all you want, but you are just an ass, an ass who thinks he knows how things work, but is sadly, sadly mistaken. If you want to sit home on a Saturday night, and NOT help someone who needs it, be my guest.
