Seriously, deeko, guys like you need help; you have issues, and the last thing you should be worried about is some poor girl who's had the misfortune to become acquainted with you.

WTF do you you mean what to do? Some fvcking people should not be drinking alcohol evidently! You are telling me there is another girl that is drunker than she is? What in the hell were you people doing? Funneling Everclear?

You and your friends really need to learn how to drink responsibly because neither me nor any of my friends have ever had to face a freaking situation like this. I could *maybe* understand it if it was a huge party and these are the only two, but this sounds like a get together with a few friends who all got too shitfaced.

Secondly don't sleep in the bed with her moron. Are you just asking for trouble tonight?

Jesus, Mary, Joesph, and Baby Jesus what is wrong with some people.

he's in college man. this stuff happens, whether you like it or not. I've done this plenty of times, i've been in MUCH worse shape than she is. its okay, as long as she is on her side, and she drinks a lot of water when possible, she will be fine. sometimes it is difficult to gauge how alcohol consumption will hit you, esp when one experiments with different drinks they aren't accustomed to. in any case, this is pretty typical college stuff man. chill out.

I am in college myself and I am certain that I have never met people that are this freaking stupid. Sorry but I could *maybe* understand this if it was their first time to drink, but if you have had experience with alcohol you know better.

I've been drinking since I was 15 (I'm Punjabi, we're like Irish). My tolerance isn't bad, but I've been F'D UP BAD, at least 4 times. I mean knocked out for periods of 30 minutes, then regaining conciousness for 30 seconds, then passing out, again and again till the next morning, when i would find chunks of last nights food in my ear. its not cuz i'm dumb or inexperienced its cuz most of the times thats happened i hadn't realized i didn't have sh*t to eat that day.

in any case, it happens to the best of us, esp. when we're young freshmen in college we do these things. if you haven't done it, then you're an exception buddy, most people i know have.

You don't have a clue do you? There is a difference in being extremely drunk and getting sick or what deeko was talking about. EVERYONE there obviously was extremely drunk and they were concerned for several of the people because they were so sick. This is what you call alcohol poisoning. It can kill you and if you think it is just a badge of honor to wear then you are very misguided.

I have been very drunk on numerous occasions as have a multitude of my friends. The difference is that you have to know your limits WAY ahead of time. You can't just drink until you have alcohol poisoning.

If it was liquor that they did not have experience with, then you take it slow and try to see how it affects you. I am not a party pooper and I drink pretty regularly. For you to condone what is happening with all of these people either shows ignorance or apathy.

I know what alcohol poisoning is, and i think calling 911 is definitely an option as well, but lets look at what deeko said:

"guys...there is a girl in really bad shape here..i can hardly type stright...but she is passed ou in bed...i am worreid for her..she was puking earlier it took us 30 miutes to get her back here, a half block..help"

I completely agree that he is inexperienced with this, and that may be one reason that he is so concerned, because its probably never happened to him before. from personal experience, people passing out is not reason alone to be very very concerned. it means we should keep an eye on that person, and if they are vomiting, turn them to their side, but sometimes plain old fatigue mixed with the alcohol can cause someone to pass out. in any case i felt you were a bit harsh on him. i'm sure him and his friends will be more careful in the future. college is a learning process man.

Just imagine the emergency room if every drunk decides that their drunk passed out friend needs to go to the ER. Do you think we need to have a separate ward dedicated to this? What about the legit people there that needs attention? Should they have to wait for all the drunks to get sober before they get treated for their problem?

Think people, think. He's drunk, she's drunk, he can't type, what makes you think he actually can rationally tell how drunk she is.

Hey you're the one who came on the Anandtech forums to ask what to do in this situation. You put yourself in the situation where some people would give you sound advice while others would criticize you. You could of asked your friends what to do but since you posted here I'm guessing no one knew and thats why you posted.

sorry deeko but the more of your posts i read, i see you're still just a child
hopefully you'll grow up soon. As for the girl, you should have just called 911
unless there was underage drinking involved, which im sure there was, i don't see why you don't call. and even that is a stupid reason

the sad thing is its explictly against the sikh religion to drink alcohol :)

EDIT: unless of course you're not sikh :)

Too late now I guess but I would have brought her to the ER if she was really bad. They'd possibly stomach pump her but at the least hook up her to an IV. A friend of mine at college was .48 alcohol whereas fatal is .60 (something around here anyway), and they gave him the big time treatment. The next day he looked like he wanted to die and he still had those circular electrical thingamabobs attached to his chest. It really turned him off drinking quite a bit with long term conviction, so for him it was a good thing.

Here's the plan:

  • Stop typing on your computer
  • Find a phone, dial the numbers 9, then 1, then another 1
  • Tell the operator your friend is puking herself and give her the address
  • Let the medics take it so you can stop worrying

;)

Alright, allow me to clear things up.

Last night I was in a frenzy, because a) I'd never been in that situation before and b) I wasn't exactly sober myself.
All of you who kept crying for 911, I'm glad I didn't take your advice, no offense. She was NOT that bad, she actually woke up around 3:30ish and was up and active. There was much worse going on on my floor than this(another girl had alcohol poisoning), my situation was not exactly extreme.

As to personal comments, look, I was drunk, do you expect me to hold my tongue? Of course not. And frankly, I'm sick of the attitude of many AT'ers. You act as if you're perfect, as if you've never done anything wrong, and as if anyone who DOES do something wrong is a horrible, horrible person. Everyone has bad nights sometimes, you don't have to be a d!ck about it. I came here last night, worried, looking for ideas, not criticism.

And in case you were wondering, I was in no way in the wrong last night. This girl is not from my school(she goes a few miles down the road), she was visiting my school, had no place to go, she wasn't technically my guest, the girl who originally signed her in(who lives down the hall from me) was in almost as bad a state, so I took the initiative to make sure she got back from the party & was ok. You can call me a child, you can call me whatever name you want, but the fact of the matter is I ended my night very early for her sake, I checked on her every 5 or 10 minutes until she woke up, I did nothing wrong here, and she agrees, she was extremely grateful this morning. So don't please don't give me the holier than thou attitude.

you did the right thing imho. but people didn't like the comment, and i thought it was lame too Deeko. You were concious enough to type without many mispellings, yet you made that comment. Sounds more like male ego overcame you than the alcohol.

But despite that i think you were a good guy for taking care of her.

You're right, it wasn't the right comment to make, and that's why I took it out. Don't forget that 'male ego' is bolstered by alcohol. I wouldn't have made a comment like that sober. Trust me, i was more than a little drunk, it took me a good while to get those posts readable...

boooooo to all the people that said call 911.

Unless the girl started chocking on her vomit or started skitzing out, calling 911 would only cause problems. The ambulance would show up at his place, she'd get busted for underage drinking, someone gets a bill, blah blah blah.
