Yes!

By the way, how stupid must someone in congress be to even conceive something like this?

Oh wait, nevermind, found pics. Now I know why.

congress does not read most of the crap they pass. unless its title "Michial jackson day" or such it has a good chance of passing.

/facepalm at Sharpton and Jackson Lee

He may not have cured cancer, but he did heal the world. made it a better place. for you and for me and the entire human race. There are people dying. If you care enough for the living, make a better place for you and for me.

"he did heal the world"? "made it a better place. for you and for me and the entire human race"?
Give me a break! He was a weird but talented kid who grew up into a really creepy if talented adult before he went entirely freakshow. Maybe Saint Michael healed your world, but he annoyed the hell out of mine. I never wished an early death on him, but MJ will not be missed for a single instant in my world!

The resolution itself is somewhat silly IMO, but OTOH the Pubs are really taking the bait and demonstrating a high degree of classlessness here.

I think you totally missed what he meant.

So you support the resolution? If so, you are at direct odds with most of your fellow Democrats posting here.

Micheal Jackson was a stand up citizen(as opposed to Al Franken the stand up comedian). Al Sharpton said so!

Nice bait, I'm sure someone will fall for it.

How about serving the people, for once, by working to destroy the oligarchy instead of putting up smokescreens like this? That seems like a more legitimate use of our tax dollars.

"Hey guys, look over here at this totally retarded shit we're doing instead of worrying and getting pissed off about how fucked you are, thanks to us."

Pelosi Shoots Down Jackson Resolution

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee promised fans she'd get a resolution passed in Congress honoring Michael Jackson -- but Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi just 86'd the proposal.

In a news conference moments ago on Capitol Hill, Pelosi said that while Jackson was "a great performer," a resolution "will open up two contrary views that are not necessary at this time to be expressed."

Sorry! I didn't recognize it as MJ lyrics until your answer prompted me to Google the phrase; I thought it was just more fawning pablum from a fan. We've had far too much of that this last week.

Why not? Elvis Presley was honered in the Congressional Record by Pat Schroeder, Howard Baker and George Wallace.

Now remember Jackson was just accused of child molestation but Elvis Presley according to his wife Priscilla had sex with her when he was 24 and she was 14. That's actual child molestation.

Exerpt from book When Elvis died.
