I've been using a 32-inch 1080p tv for a gaming and want to upgrade. I like the screen size and am okay with 60Hz refresh. I'm not ready for 4K, 1440p seems a good next step.

I'm just starting my research, want to stay under $650. On the models below, Trusted Reviews says input lag is high with both Samsung and BenQ. Can't find a review on the HP but they advertise 7ms GTG. I'm not up on screen technology, appreciate feedback or alternate suggestions. I use headphones, speakers not much a factor. Currently running single 780Ti and may upgrade to 970 SLI or other next gen.

I picked up an Acer b326hul for $370.- shipped about a month ago. Supposedly uses the same panel as the BenQ. So far it's decent. I notice ghosting on dark backgrounds. I upgraded from a Samsung 27 inch 1080 TV. If I had it to do over again I would not. 1440 is not that noticable a difference to me.

You might look into the 34" 21:9 monitors. 3440x1440 isn't that much more of a hit than 2560x1440 and the extra FOV is awesome. I had the LG UM3495 and I didn't notice ghosting or serious input lag. Bit more spendy but I'm a big fan of the ultra widescreen monitors after trying one.

I also have the BenQ and it is great for gaming. I'm no pro, but I really tried to see if I could notice the ghosting in first-person shooters by swinging the view all over the place, and it was not something I could notice, even when looking for it. Great in Starcraft too. So it may be overblown in the Trusted Review thing, but maybe others can chime in.

That's not surprising. A lot of people would not use a 27" 1080p because of pixelation, but you didn't see that, meaning that your eyes are probably not that good(a more charitable way of putting it is that your eyes have the advantage of being easier content than for most people).

What he said, basically. Although my only objection to this are the price levels. 32-34" 21:9 displays cost a lot more than you can get for a decent 1440p 16:9 at 32". Then there have been some who have stated that these displays have higher input lag than the norm, but that doesn't seem very easily verifiable to me.

See my thread on this monitor. The one I got was absolute crap. It's on its way back. I was hesitant to go with Acer and I should of trusted my gut feeling.

Also, the cheapest I've ever seen the monitor after black Friday was $500 so it's a tougher pill to swallow than $370...

Yea Lava pointed out the LG 34" a couple months ago. These cheaper 32" seemed doable, but wow I spent some time reading specs and reviews, pretty damn close to perfect for gaming and media. A monitor is long term, I may have to reconsider. I'm finding links with and without a "-P" in the model number. Differences?

Don't want to see it. Then it can never be un-seen. :)

I probably would not have been bothered by the motion blur either if blurbusters hadn't come along....

I use a 27" 1080p monitor and my vision is fine. It's not as sharp as a smaller display no, but with AA image quality is still pretty good.

I would go with that HP.

It's very tempting for the price. From what I'm reading, it offers similar screen quality as the higher priced 32" 1440p screens. Very tempting, hate to spend $899 for the LG but considering..

I decided to go with the HP Envy 32. Best Buy has same price as Amazon, with free shipping to store and I can return it locally if not satisfied. Specs look great for the price, hopefully a nice choice for a year or two until 4K hits the sweet spot. I'll post pics and impressions.
