Republicans oppose potential Federal Reserve stimulus moves

I'm not necessarily opposed to this plan but I have to ask where the "real growth" is supposed to come from if it is spurred. Our housing stock is fine, people have less money to buy things from a consumer standpoint and remaining jobs are slowly being outsourced or having their wages undermined by globalization. What sector is going to take off if there is more stimulus?

This is really not all that surprising. In spite of all of their talk of loving the Constitution, the modern Republican Party has been captured by the Tea Party which are a group of anarchists (a political and philosophical belief that all forms of involuntary rule or government are undesirable or unnecessary, and that society could function without a ruler or state). The way anarchists bring about their goal of no government is to cause perpetual chaos in the existing government (think about the instability in post WWII Italy as an example). The 9/11 terror attacks were designed to bring about that kind of instability so that our government would fall. They failed, but sadly, as Walt Kelly wrote so many years ago "we have met the enemy and he is us."

The Republican party must be the biggest tent party ever. Now they have Anarchists within their ranks next to the Neo-cons, Fascists, Libertarian, and Nazi's.

Lol yeah, if you want less government, create a terrorist attack to invoke a police state, riiiiight...

A lot of the other Fed governors have opposed additional "monetary stimulus" (aka money printing) as well. Guess they must be anarchists too 🙄

Oh and lol @ john boner being a "tea partier" too.

Tea Partier is the same as neo-con 5 years ago. The left needs a constant boogeyman to scare their faithful into a frenzy. Once tea partier goes away the next label will be trolled out for the masses to run scared shitless through the streets.

Not really they are shrinking into nonexistence that's why Republican Governors are on a Jihad to redistrict states that will ultimately favor Republicans in elections.Oh I forgot to mention their paranoia over voter fraud AKA making it harder for voters to vote for a Democrat.

We'll just tax and spend our way to prosperity...it'll work this time for sure! Obama will put a chicken in every pot and a Prius in every garage. Trust me!

Err, I thought we wanted to weaken the dollar further to spur exports.

Isn't that one of their objections...weakening the dollar?

Despite the ravings of the "Ron Fucking Paul" crowd, QE1/2 did actually keep things from getting worse - when looked at from a position of sanity at least.

Anything that stimulates the economy helps Obama. Thus, the GOP is against it.

I've been waiting for this promissed inflation for years now (see last posts). It hasn't materialized. Yet, people keep claiming the sky is falling due to inflation.

The inflation has already happened. The money supply has already exploded.
The banks have not been lending it out yet though, they're sitting on it collecting interest from the Fed.
When things start to get moving and it gets lent out, then what?

We're potentially sitting on an inflation time bomb...

Stagflation maybe? 1970s anyone?

No! Don't you understand!?! We need to pursue contractionary policies by removing money from the economy! Depressing the economy further is the true path to prosperity!

Please, you need to be a bit less transparent in your attempts to bogeyman the liberals and have conservatives running frenzied through the streets. Jesus! Pathetic!

The party that crashed the economy now is blocking any way to restart it.

Right there is the whole Repub strategy in a nutshell. The Repubs insist on dragging the nation down the flusher to even the odds for their plan to bring back the Bush/Cheney glory years and as evidence, just look at how they've been behaving since they lost all three branches and got back one of them.

The wholesale coordinated repressive/regressive actions against the middle class/poor the Repubs took immediately after their 2010 election victories, especially at the State level, is just a small sample of what to expect if they get all three branches of gov't back again. In their fervor to make up for lost time/opportunities they have over-reached and over-reacted every chance they got.

They are literally pulling their hair out in abject frustration for having to put up with the bottlenecks the Dem Executive and Senate have caused them to suffer (from their point of view).

Good I wish they could block a QE3. QE1 and QE2 just put money in the pockets of wallstreet. At the expense of massive inflation that will crush the non weathly in the next few years.

My comment was obviously sarcasm directed at the quote.

That said both parties play the redistricting game. It will be a game that wont end until the end of the republic.

hah, yeah it should be those liberals yelling at the Fed. More cheap money for the capitalists to borrow and more wealth concentration at the top.

Well I guess nobody really know what the hell quantitative easing means so everyone going around yelling at the wrong people.
