But all the racist, sexist, etc jokes directed at Sarah Palin are just fine with these same people. Barack better be ready to hit the ground running - Because he's made a lot of promises to fix a lot of stuff.. People need to stop worrying about this sort of thing and start worrying about how the democrats who control every part of the government are going to FIX THE PROBLEMS they PROMISED they would.. About all we have seen so far is illegal activity to attempt to sell senate seats..

I'd imagine being called a magic negro is about #10394094032580482542 on the list of things Barack needs to worry about. #1 should be his tax cut he promised.

As Jhhnn pointed out, you have to have known the actual content of the L.A. Times column. For those who haven't bothered to check his link:

Obama the 'Magic Negro'
The Illinois senator lends himself to white America's idealized, less-than-real black man.

.
.
The Magic Negro is a figure of postmodern folk culture, coined by snarky 20th century sociologists, to explain a cultural figure who emerged in the wake of Brown vs. Board of Education. "He has no past, he simply appears one day to help the white protagonist," reads the description on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_Negro .
.
.
The link on wikipedia is clear about the roots of the term and its offensive, racist nature.

Magical negro

The magical negro (sometimes called the mystical negro or magic negro) is a supporting, often mystical stock character in fiction who, by use of special insight or powers, helps the white protagonist get out of trouble. The word negro, now considered by many as archaic and offensive, is used intentionally to suggest that the archetype is a racist throwback, an update of the "Sambo" and "savage other" stereotypes. Spike Lee popularized the term, deriding the archetype of the "super-duper magical negro" in 2001 while discussing films with students at Washington State University and at Yale University.

As usual, you're trying to divert attention from another disasterous blow to the Republican "brand" raised by the disgraceful reference in the CD.

I also read your pathetic attempts dodge the weasel out of the obvious meaning of your own words, once you were called on them, and all I can do is wonder why you ALWAYS have to prove yourself to be so intellectualy dishonest and ethically and morally challenged?

I don't necessarily think it's some racist ploy, just a really stupid move by this guy. Is this the guy you want chairing the GOP because the Liberals are hoping he does.

By itself, by yourself, maybe not, but it doesn't do much to suggest you're not, either.

OTOH, when it's sent as a mass mailing under the official cover of the Republican party, at best, it would be in extremely poor taste, and at worst, it would suggest that the party is in fact highly racist.

You're easily entertained:roll: No it doesn't make you a racist and I truly believe those who are making a big deal out of this are being politically motivated but you have to be smart when you want to lead a party and this Wanker was anything but when he did this. Even his rival for the chair is condemning it. Still I think the guy would be perfect, it would be like Billy Carter leading the Republicans

No, at least the outgoing chairman of the RNC is appalled by the video. Saltman is the fellow who is running to be the new RNC chairman, using this offensive CD as a springboard.

Even as a partisan democrat, I can see this as wise move for the RNC, more likely the embolden the worst in the GOP, and the outgoing chairman of the RNC has the right word for it; APPALLING.

You have to wonder why the Republicans would do something this stupid.

It won't attract more voters.

It isn't even GOOD satire, assuming anyone thinks it isn't intended to pander to the racial prejudices of so many Republicans.

From a political standpoint the bit is just plain DUMB. They've shot themselves in the foot and given Dems a great tool.

And people wonder why the Republicans are fading fast. LOL.

Please, I'm waiting for "Hymie the Magic Banker", "Hanna the Magic Hoe", and "Mohammed the Magic Suicide Bomber episodes. The mind boggles at the possibilities.

I think Duncan (current RNC Chairman) is seeking reelection.

I'm not outraged - I'm laughing at you people who don't understand this and have your panties in a twist over it.

why is it that you always divert by talking about twisted or bunched panties?

It's not diverting. It's commenting on this thread and what you libs post. S

Seriously - do you not understand the "magic negro" thing? Ofcourse you don't - you WANT to see racism from the R side so this provides you and your types cover provided you prey on people's ignorance of it's origins.

so do you think its smart to send out something like this? Do you think this helps the republican parties future?

seriously, how blind are you?

i can't recall anything sexist being said by any prominent individuals (or any one in general, actually) Criticism of palin was mostly based around what she did and said, and most of it was well deserved.

I think it's funny you all think there is a difference and put so much effort into defending that difference.

I have to call bullshit on the OP.
I'm a member of the Republican Party and I never received this CD.

I love the resident "liberul derangement syndrome" sufferers responses. Maybe the GOP just likes to lose...

"Rush the magic addict" claims that he distributed this song to expose to the world that the No. 1 "enemy of the state", the "liberuls" are a bunch of politically correct prudes who can't take a joke. Saltsman is taking a similar tack. But even if this line of Bullshit is true - If the " baseless made-up enemy", the dreaded "liberuls" are, too often, a bunch of PC prudes, what these guys think they're going to achieve?

I mean, do you think, that if you play this song enough times, the American Electorate will rise up and say "Eureka! Republicans are so much less "anal" than Democrats! And that's exactly want for my country! A leader who's Not Afraid to make racist jokes in polite company! I wasn't going to vote Dem. this year, but now...". Tone-deaf, science-denying, faux Christian southern baptist racists. Those are the folks who make up the 21st century Republican Party today. Good luck with all that, guys.

What's interesting is that half of the GOP's tactical response to Obama appears to be to "black & minority wash" the GOP. Attempting to make the party look blacker than it is - which indicates that, from their perspective, Obama was elected because he's black. And they simultaneously ridicule his blackness and try to put a black face on their party - without actually cultivating real black & hispanic Republicans who aren't nuts.

If they really are going to run under the slogan "Less Anal" in 2012, they should re-think their huge hissy fit over "lipstick on a pig.". Less Anal? Between Larry Craig, Mark Foley and Ted Haggard, I'd say the Republicans are a lot more "anal" than the Democrats.

RNC chair candidate sends out controversial Obama song
Posted: 03:10 PM ET

From CNN Associate Political Editor Rebecca Sinderbrand

(CNN) ? A candidate for Republican National Committee chairman said Friday it was clear the content of a CD he sent committee members for Christmas ? that included lyrics from a song called ?Barack the Magic Negro? ? was intended as a joke.

?I think most people recognize political satire when they see it,? Chip Saltsman told CNN. ?I think RNC members understand that.? Saltsman, a former chair of the Tennessee Republican Party, was a top advisor to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and managed former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee?s presidential campaign.

The song, set to the tune of ?Puff the Magic Dragon,? was first played on Rush Limbaugh?s radio show in 2007. Its title was drawn from a Los Angeles Times column that suggested Obama appealed to those who feel guilty about the nation?s history of mistreatment of African-Americans. Saltsman said the song, penned by long-time friend Paul Shanklin, should be easily recognized as satire directed at the Times.

The parody CD sent to RNC members this Christmas, first reported by The Hill Friday, is titled ?We Hate the USA?, and includes songs referencing former presidential John Edwards and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, among other targets.

Is this overblown? probably.
Was it smart? Probably not.
Will anyone care by the time the next elections come and the dems have shown 4 years of incompetance and a failure to learn from thier own boners? Probably not.

Of all the things to get in a tizzy over, this is... mind boggling. This "outrage" at a year old song is nothing but the media going on the offensive at all things that even smell like they might be mocking or attacking Obama.

There's nothing racist about the Ad. Paul Shanklin didn't call him a Magic Negro, the LA Times did (a leftist paper btw). There has to be literally at LEAST 500,000x more Anti-right wing vitriolic bulls*** coming from the left's entertainment establishment that for the media to get outraged at a satirical song is just silly.

 Where did I suggest that it was smart to send it out? You twisted pantie types can't seem to read when your "racist" sensitivity sensor goes off.

The song is hilarious as it's a spoof on the media and liberals who selectively play the race card. However, sending it out wasn't the brightest move because it gives you pantie twisters the opportunity to twist things and claim racism despite the reality of the situation.

To me it just shows how behind the times the GOP is.
First of all they send this out on a CD, at the time of the internet. Secondly they have some sort of expectation that as Karl Rove did in 2000, they can target certain controversial messages to certain groups, without being exposed and alienating the broader electorate. And thirdly, they are firmly stuck in the politics of race, which has become a net loser in recent years. It is going to isolate the GOP into a marginal regional party of Southern conservatives.

and now we are back to the original point, what the fuck is it with you and twisted and bunched panties? I couldn't care less about this song, the only reasons i got into this thread was the stupid excuses coming from people like you, and primarily this bizarre fetish of yours.
