Republican now hate hungry children

You could lose all of your income and you still wouldn't be able to help the kids in Africa.

What I'm saying is that all the people complaining "this money is mine, I earned it" kind of mentality are forgetting how taxes to work. We pay taxes so that the US as a collective group of people can prosper.

You pay taxes and may not use every single road in your state, you may not be on welfare, you may not send your kids to the public schools, but that is not the point. The point is that everyone puts in their fair share whether you use the government services or not.

Again, your thinking is circular.

You could help some of the kids in Africa, why aren't you helping them? Because they live in another country?

I'm one of those children who benefit the free breakfast and lunch program in California (lived under the poverty line several years of my life). Why is it so hard to feed the children? I agree that parents who can't feed their children shouldn't have children. But with recent job loss, it should help at least give some assurance that the majority of the children in need will have nutrition.

We don't want food riots because kids are malnourished...

You're ignoring my comments on taxes, but whatever.

You can help kids in Africa if you want, but what about other kids in many other countries? It could go in forever so you're argument about helping a specific group doesn't work.

You're argument is irrelevant to this thread because you pay taxes here in the US, not another country.

I hope and prey I am wrong and we don't have a "sudden stop" or hyperinflation. We don't even have an economy that can absorb 60-75 million in the workforce. It's not their fault righties. See my sig.

Then you should also be for enforcing our immigration policies and kicking out illegals?

Malnourished? Do you know that we have the fattest poor people in the world? Our poor are fatter than our rich. No kids are being malnourished here.

Please look up malnourished on google...You can be and probably are malnourished if you are overweight.

Utter bullshit. With the exception of iron, TRUE dietary deficiencies are very rare in the United States and other developed nations.

Yes, I know. Now we have the nebulous bullshit of "Johnny is an asshole at school. He's poor and fat, too. MUST BE MALNURISHED!!!

Utter bullshit. He's spoiled and coddled and told he deserves self esteem even if he's done nothing to be proud of.

Bullshit like this has added the term "Overnutrition" to the now pantheon of terms related to malnutrition. It's a fucking joke.

W/o proper nutrition, kids don't grow right, particularly wrt mental capabilities. I guess that's OK if we want a country full of Springer watchin', Rush believin' & "Sarah" worshipping mow-rons...

Maybe it's one of those long range goals about shaping society....

What was the pricetag for this school lunch supplemental program again? $4.5B? The price for the ongoing WOT, WOI & WOA? NMD? Aid to Israel?

Commie bastards just need to get their priorities straight, right? What's more important than pertektin' Uhh-merricuh from the boogeyman, anyway?

You really don't get it do you? The previous poster was making an ethical argument. Ethics don't stop at borders. Don't butt in if you can't follow the discussion.

We already have the idiocracy you are talking about. School lunches hasn't changed any of that.

And I'm still waiting for someone to explain scientifically in what way American kids are stupid because they're malnourished. Modern diets lead to diabetes and weight gains but this is about over-feeding and not malnourished kids.

It's not an ethical argument at all- it's diversion. The logical conclusion is that since we can't feed all the hungry kids in the world, we shouldn't bother with any of 'em, not even our own. Escape to smug self justification, the underlying goal of every right winger.

Charity starts at home, remember?

Can you just admit you jumped into this thread and have no idea what I was originally responding to.

He was making an ethical argument. He was arguing that we should stop being evil and help children because they have no control over their parents. Well that's a fine argument but worse off children in other countries also have no control over where they were born and who they were born too. So ACCORDING TO HIS LOGIC if conservatives are evil than liberals who don't share their wealth with children in Africa are too.

Now maybe your dumb ass is making a different argument, but if you can't follow the thread don't blame me for not understanding what I'm referring to.

Just to get you started. What modern diets lack contributes just as much to poor health as what they have in excess.

Liberals generally DO favor society doing some good for the poor around the world.

Not the Republican idiot caricature version - sensible. Think Bono's "1%" campaign.

Republicans tend to oppose this, and support the much smaller private charity approach.

And to clobber the same poor a thousand time more than their charity helps by enabling our powerful government and business interests to exploit others.

Do you not understand that lack of vitamins during brain development reduces a person's IQ?

Where does it say modern diets have gone down in Omega 3? Are omega 3s really that expensive? Certain cultures have more Omega 3s in their diet. Take Italy vs. Northern and Central Europe. It's not like Italy outperforms Northern and Central Europe.

Way to stick to your guns. Clearly you're not going to let science and research get in the way of your opinion. Bravo.

I think it's pretty clearly evidenced by much of the internet that nutrient deficiency has been impeding mental development in this country on a large scale for a long time. The American diet the modern equivalent of the lead containers of Rome.

Not if you're going to relate it to our discussion more directly. You did a google search. You think that's applying science? Again, has Omega 3 consumption gone down compared to the past? Why aren't countries with more omega 3 consumption more technologically dominant. I'm sorry but not having as many Omega 3's as a traditional mediterranean diet doesn't make someone malnourished. You remind me of (I forget if it was Sandorski or Senseamp) who acted like air conditioning was a human right.

Feeding a child is a basic parental duty. Feeding kids more omega 3s is within the reach of almost all American parents, no matter how poor. Government really doesn't need to be involved in pushing the latest dietary fad.

Apparently that's more than you're capable of.

It has.

Japan.

No, but being deficient enough to inhibit cognitive ability does.

You remind me of (I forget if it was Sandorski or Senseamp) who acted like air conditioning was a human right.
You remind me of a moron.

Healthy food is by and large far more expensive than unhealthy food per calorie.

Government really doesn't need to be involved in pushing the latest dietary fad.

Proper nutrition, dietary fad. Yep, moron. But at least there's hope, increase your Omega 3 intake.

How is this so hard to understand? Do you understand the concept of a school? Giving a child an education at school is a basic governmental duty. Teaching a child ethics at school is a basic governmental duty. Teaching a child good citizenship at school is a basic governmental duty. Feeding healthy food and not junk to a child at school is a basic governmental duty.

Is Japan more technologically advanced than meat-eating Germany? Did Japan's fish intake allow them to defeat meat and potatoes USA in World War II? No. Why isn't Italy as productive as Japan?
