A food assistance program to provide food to poor kids during the summer when they are not getting food in school. Republicans in 15 states are rejecting this aid for poor kids including the state of Mississippi which ranks #1 in child poverty. You would think a state that poor would jump at the chance to help children but not Republicans. According to Gov Tate Reeves he rejected it because Biden was expanding the welfare state

This is easily solvable and moonbeam would agree. Tie the food program with providing free guns to all the children for free at same time. That way they get their guns and food and we all win!

In all seriousness, it is astonishing how despicable republicans are and the very kids in those states starving will grow up and vote the same way. A cycle of voting against your own best interests because you just know you will be next millionaire.

Complete and utter malfeasance.

Of course, Biden will take the blame for the Republicans refusing to accept the program in those states where the GOP keeps their poor folks feeding on FOX lies and where their churches are fully integrated with the corrupt conservative political apparatus of their states.

This insanity is a direct cause of the GOP's attitude where they will either take credit for programs the Democrats created or turn those programs down where they can't hide the fact that Joe Biden is trying to help their poor folks have a better life for themselves. The poor people of those red states are kept isolated, undereducated and ignorant of just how exploited and manipulated they are by the corrupted conservative power brokers that control most aspects of their lives.

This is what the Republicans have been attempting to replicate on a national scale with Trump as their motivator and symbolic head of state. FTS

Wait...are you implying there's something wrong with letting a bunch of poor kids, presumably "not like us kids," starve so the Republicans can "stick it to the Democrats?"

Come on...get with the program!

Next time a Republicans claims to be pro-life Dems need to instantly remind people of this.

A woman is raped becomes pregnant not only will Republicans force carrying to term but if you are poor and need assistance, they will turn their backs on these children.

I'm reminded of the bible story about Jesus feeding the masses. There was this one part where they set up the check-in line and were verifying employment status, age, political, and religious affiliations. It was a crazy time.

Is it possibly to bypass the state and make this federal aid? Then the Dems can claim a win that they are feeding the kids of the country since the GOP didnt care to.

I was reminded Mississippi the state #1 in child poverty is the same state that misappropriated welfare funds so Brett Favre could get a volleyball stadium for his old college.
Favre’s involvement in the scandal stems from his decision to fund a new volleyball arena for the University of Southern Mississippi – his alma mater. But instead of receiving money directly from Favre, the project was actually funded with $5 million in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds which were meant to help Mississippi’s most impoverished individuals.

While it's certainly stupid to refuse the money, we're talking about a $1.42 a day. Is that amount really going to make a difference? For kids living in such poverty that a buck and a half is going to change their lives, maybe we need to look at an altogether different approach, like simply giving the entire family enough food.

They force women to have children and then they refuse free money to help hungry children during summer break.

"Pro-life" my ass!
They've never been "pro-life", only pro-fetus/pro-birth. After womb-eviction, those babies can fuck right off.

The funding comes from the Feds, but state-level is where it's allocated. That's why they can refuse the funding, or if they're able, allocate the funds elsewhere (like many states did with COVID aid).

Says the guy who lives in Mississippi.

I hope you never truly experience need.

But you see, that's the way they're trying to prove how better they are than everyone else and that they have the inalienable right to own our asses so they can tell us how to live our lives, who to hate, who to trust and just who we all owe our freedoms that they're busy taking away from us.

In that way they can feel good about themselves, feel safe and secure about being racists, supremacists and religiously faithful Nazis that put Party, Guns and God (in that order) as their guide toward creating a more perfect dictatorship.

Cool, I’m down, but you understand that the GOP and their voters aren’t, right?
