While it's certainly stupid to refuse the money, we're talking about a $1.42 a day. Is that amount really going to make a difference? For kids living in such poverty that a buck and a half is going to change their lives, maybe we need to look at an altogether different approach, like simply giving the entire family enough food.
Seeing the way these things tend to go...
We are probably talking about something Republicans CUT down, to that amount, in the first place. Before finally rejecting the rest of it, just because they could.

Next time a Republicans claims to be pro-life Dems need to instantly remind people of this.

A woman is raped becomes pregnant not only will Republicans force carrying to term but if you are poor and need assistance, they will turn their backs on these children.

The old George Carlin joke.

Is that what Evil looks like?
The experience of Satan matters more then his existence. It really doesn't matter if he is a metaphysical identity.

When people worship evil, they create him in their mind, are enthralled in his ways, and further his agenda.

Rearguardless of what they call themselves, look at what happens to what they influence. The truth is obvious for any who wish to see. Satan need not metaphysical existence to do his work, his adherents may claim what they will about themselves, the effect is all the same.

Profound evil and wickedness from their mouth. Strife and hatred rift where they govern. Death and suffering from their touch.

One need not believe in God to hold the torch. The torch that eliminates the tax deductible status. The torch that recognizes them as another political faction, and holds them accountable for the violence they incite.

This is going to the people that have the least . Can't we as a country lift these people to a higher level?
The more intelligent Americans become The sooner our country is a place worth living in .

As a hard left winger we need to invest in the southern states to get them educated, not indoctrinated .
I just want critical thinking to be a required course .

The people in charge in those states are gonna fight you kicking and screaming on that one, it stands in direct opposition to their goals.

Keeping food from kids is the Christian thing to do.

-Suffering brings us closer to God, and all that

I know it is hard to see any value in Christianity these days, and that I am no paragon of virtue.

But these governors are no Christians. Nor are the preachers, or any of the leaders who should know better.

The people in communities, the pews, they have been lied to for so long, they no longer know what being Christian means. If you talk to them, they are trying to do what they feel is right, loving, but their minds have been twisted by their leaders who do anything for the worship of power.

Them being poor, uneducated, and brainwashed to vote against their own best interests is a feature not a bug.
Puts it best. For millenniums Christianity was used to keep the lower classes in order, and it can still be used for that.

Christianity is well on its way to the dust bin of history these days. In many cases, deserving its fate. Yet not every church has embraced hatred, not every congregation has fallen to the calling of murdering their neighbors. Yet guilty by association smears them all.

Still, most people believe in some sort of deity. After the power of the church is cast down, humbled, and shattered, I wonder if it will have a place again? I wonder what will survive? I wonder if the rituals I love will have any place, or will just be a distant memory in a museum. I have to imagine that all of those people would find value in the church if the church was able to humble itself and meet them on their terms.

Why does it have to be personified?

Roughly googling, student lunches cost between 1.75 and 2.75, breakfast is anywhere from free to .50 so yeah 1.42 taken away might mean they eat 50-75% less per day. You ready to give up that much of your food to make your point?

It isn't school lunch cost, it's to supplement over the summer. $1.42 doesn't get you much at the grocery store.

"This program doesn't do enough so let's not bother doing anything at all" -greenman

So you're proposing a dramatic expansion of SNAP and TANF? Is that what I'm hearing?

Sounds like it should be increased then, not decreased. Let's up it to 50% of out-of-school average breakfast and lunch costs.

But if there was a program to give bullets to kids, that traitor will be all for it.
