Trump and Co looking to wriggle out from under a law he signed that workers get back pay under a shutdown. Also, what terrible messaging. Good luck to the Republicans running in VA, LOL.
Trump looking to stiff someone what they're owed?

Day that ends in y.

Asked about the White House's position on back pay, President Donald Trump told reporters, "I would say it depends on who we’re talking about."

He added: "For the most part, we’re going to take care of our people. There are some people that really don’t deserve to be taken care of, and we’ll take care of them in a different way."
Gee i wonder what he means by “our people”, and “some people”. Not at all how a proper president should speak.

Since Reagan, the feds have treated ATCs like a uniformed service. Well, okay, then make them a uniformed service and give them Tri-Care for life and the full menu of perks that come with the status. Ditto for NWS.
Well we all know how you know who feels about the NWS and NHC. Hide the sharpies during hurricane season. 😝😛😜

So, Trump really wants to eliminate jobs, initially at democrats, but now due incompetence, republicans will end getting the treatment too? that's so Trumplike

Americans are not going to vote themselves out of the Fourth Reich.

All it takes is a silly little slogan like "If the government is screwing your lives, screw the government!"

And just so you know MAGA is running the government.

It's fucking 1st grade simple.. But the dems can't even do that.

That's why I have no faith in them..

Shutdown RIFs are starting.

Nothing they weren't already planning to do, but also violating the anti-deficiency act since it takes work to assemble a RIF, work they are not allowed to do under a shutdown.

- We'd fire you but there is no budget to fire you, so you stay.
Pretty much. In a shutdown, you can't do non-essential work. Firing people is not essential.

And they've been trying to fire people for months. This is a really transparent (and illegal) attempt to try and force a CR through, and there is no reason to believe that they wouldn't do this if the government was funded.

Listen to the speech from March when the R's were dragging their feet on approving the CR. I still haven't located the one where he's very blunt laying the possibility of a shutdown blame at the R's feet. I saw him in an interview the other day, I think it was on NBC, and they confronted him plus they had the clip in question as he danced around justifying the differences between then and now.

They've just played right into the administrations hand's and when the pain really comes they need to look in the mirror before pointing fingers. Neither party is doing a great job managing the country right now.

You realize that with the recision cat that they've let out of the bag, there's no point in democrats agreeing to any deal. DOTUS is now allowed to overrule any decision congress makes regarding funding for anything, for any whim in his spongy brain.

What guarantee could congressional republicans offer? None, because they have no power.

They are gutting the CDC.
They're just continuing on the mission they started with DOGE and RFK Jr. They want more people to die, because they think their money will protect them from all the illnesses out there.

It's a nakedly transparent attempt to try and blame firings on Democrats when they've been visibly chomping at the bit to do this since January 20th.

Trump said late Friday afternoon that he plans to fire “a lot” of federal workers in retaliation for the government shutdown, vowing to target those deemed to be aligned with the Democratic Party.

“We figure they started this thing, so they should be Democrat-oriented,” Trump said, placing blame for the shutdown on Democratic lawmakers.

Trump did not provide details on what qualified the affected workers as “Democrat-oriented.”
