What annoys me is college students just like this guy who mask inappropriate behavior under the guise of trying to be socially relevant. Hes just as guilty of living in an "ivory tower" thinking that hes somehow justified in his actions just because he thinks hes providing some great social critique. Its also trendy to pretend you're socially relevant in college too.

HAD to do it for shock value due to their reputation? Worst reason ever.

"These two people do not represent 90,000 Penn State students. They represent themselves."

No shit sherlock.

Who cares what they wore. It is just a costume. People need to grow some skin, jeez.

It is just a costume that makes light of the deaths of a bunch of people. In my book that makes them assholes. So I call them assholes. It has nothing to do with thin skin.

He goes on to defend the pictures.

"The thing is, everybody's making a big stink about Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech was 32 deaths out of the 26 thousand that happen in America everyday," he said. "That's the problem with college students. They all live in an ivory tower of privilege. They don't understand, when it all boils down to it, it's someone wearing a costume."

It's someone that is making light of a mass murder. A mass murder. The scale of it is irrelevant in this case (sudan vs tech). It belittles the whole fvking human race to stoop to that level.

bitch needs to get stomped.

It's a custom...a mockery of something with supposed entertainment value.

Same here.

It would take a real piece of shit to pull a stunt like this.

Shock value? To be honest, I don't really care. There will always be insensitive people doing insensitive things - look at quite a few comedy routines/shows on TV. Just ignore them and move on.

People dress up as murderers or victims pretty frequently for Halloween. I'd say its more a question of time than taste. Here's an example: Text

For those who can't zoom, their shirts say "I didn't survive the Titanic". One of the greatest tragedies ever and people are making light of it. With around 1500 dead, it makes the VT incident look like a joke. But we don't seem to care because it happened a while ago...

I've seen worse. Someone dressed up as an SS officer and his 2 brothers were dressed as a beaten gypsy and the other a Jew. This was a couple years ago but no one made a huge deal about it.

Which is pretty much what I do. It's in poor taste, but do i really give a shit? no. I would have never known about it if i hadn't come across this thread...and this happened over Halloween? They were looking for attention (maybe not on a national level so much) and got it. Life goes on, and i'll probably forget about this in another few weeks.

When did it become a requirement that all Halloween costumes must be either cute, funny, or sexy?
