It would help to search more than just www.howstuffworks.com if you want to discuss things from all angles. Furthermore that was in a completly different thread, you were the first person to bring it up in this thread with the intention of continuing the argument.

look closer... they are all partial results. a document may contain "driver" and/or "path", but none of them contain the actual "driver path"..

Regardless of whether or not you get results from Googling it (which others are finding out that you were lying about) you are still trying to continue the wrong topic in the wrong thread. I've made a post in the proper thread to further discuss this.

You're trolling in here.

Yes it is a name for a software package. And that software package controls and manages the driver paths.

SDDPCM is a loadable path control module designed to support the multipath configuration environment in the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server and the IBM TotalStorage DS family
and
SDDPCM manages the paths to provide:High availability and load balancing of storage I/OAutomatic path-failover protectionConcurrent download of licensed internal codePrevention of a single-point-failure caused by host bus adapter, fibre channel cable, or host-interface adapter on supported storage

sounds like it just manages several things with drivers one of which being driver path or paths.

GOD DAMN, its a Fanboy zoo in here

What is the point of being a fanboy or being loyal to only to one manufacturer? you just miss out on all of the other cool(and not so cool...I'm looking in S3's direction, how you have let me down:( ) hardware that other manufacturers make

and for the record, I own AMD's and Intels (Celerons, PMMX's, P3's, P4's, K6's, AXP's, A64's and a lonely Cyrix MII) and ATi's and Nvidia's(too many to list but the most recent that I have are 6800GT's and 9700pro's)...I like them all the all do good and bad things

I'm sure if I dig through my parts I will have plenty of Matrox's, S3's and Tridents.....I like all things computer related

Then when I ask you to take the discussion back where it belongs you accuse me of provoking you?

Amazing, eh? I start a thread about fixing behavior in Video and it gets thread crapped with the specific behavior I was referring too. If I were king...

They just "happened" to use the phrase "driver path" as a part of its name. The correct name should be "Driver Data Path".

Exactly what's wrong with the sig... You continue to belabor the point an a new thread, which as you can clearly see has the effect of dragging an already long dead horse into a new topic.

How many examples do I have to give you before you realize that nothing positive comes out of the passive/aggressive sig quotes?

That is because it was a target of opportunity. Josh and you should drop it or take it to PM. Like I implied, if I were king, both of you would be on vacation just because you are both annoying and thread crapping. Start you own thread.

I've actually updated my sig, the quote was too good to miss. :D

It refers to somebody known only as 'he' though.

beggerking, you have serious issues. First, you say that my sig is out of place when it is a quote (2/3's of it are your attacks towards me anyway), you continue to ignore PMing me in order taking private matters onto private channels, you begin cross-trolling in here about another thread (to which both BFG10K, me, and many others wish you would discuss in its appropriate thread), then you accuse me of being absolutely wrong when I say the phrase "drver path" when in fact it does exist, you lie about not being able to find "anything" on it, then when redbox showed you that he has found something on it and it is used, you say that IBM has got it wrong? Also, now you're attacking the OP for telling you the same thing everyone has been telling you...

I've modified my sig and toned it down, it only reflects your recklessness and until you prove otherwise, I'm going to leave it. That's that.

nitro, my sig doesn't bring unrelated topics into any thread, beggerking brings those topics with him. We are both posting in a civilized way in your other thread and because of that, my sig isn't the issue.

whats wrong with you, redbox..?
its a part of a "name".. get it? same as "Anandtech", its a name, not a phrase.

if you REALLY want to get into it, its actually "Device Driver " + "Path", not driver path.

OMG, it doesn't exist and it doesn't mean anything. Face it, you made a mistake so let it be a mistake. its NOT "driver path", its "DATA PATH".

I'm out.

I think it'd be just wise to realise that both you and Josh aren't going to be going out for a beer together anytime soon, and move on.

They must really, want, vacations? I can't think of any other reason for them to continue the endless saga of nothingness. It's getting to the point of mod time guys. Either chill, or I ask everyone to PM a mod about the both of you. I don't dislike either of you, but for the love of Mike, please take it to PM's so we don't have to see ANYMORE of nursery school.

ya "Device Driver"+"Path"= "Device Driver Path" Gee what did IBM call this again?

IBM - Subsystem Device Driver Path Control Module

Yep I still see IBM calling it Device Driver Path.
