Replacing X850XT

I have an X850XT and the fan is starting to go bad. But I do have a compusa replacement plan on it. Should I stick with the replacement card they give me or pay the difference and grab a better card? The X1900gt ($350 value) looks to be the closest card that they sell in-store. I noticed they only sell the 7900gt online. Should I pay the difference from the X1900gt and get an X1900XTX (I'd pay $250)?

Nah the XTX is the bragging rights card, the XT can run just as fast if you O/C it.

But they don't sell the X1900XT. So I guess the X1900GT is good enough then?

For the extra $250 for the X1900XT over the X1900GT (if I understand you correctly), I'd say it's not worth it. If you can get the X1900GT for no cash outlay than I'd say go for it. It's a good card and even if you decide you want something better, you could always sell your X1900GT and pay very little for an X1900XT or similiar card. If you got ~$225 for it you'd only be out ~$100-130 for the XT instead of $250.

My fan played up too ... i just replaced it was an aftermarket part for $15 ... i think this is the way you should go too.

Wait for next gen cards to come out and then grab a X1900XTX for cheap

Agreed. Or just grab a next gen card when next gen cards come out.
