so what's the number???

Maybe it's just the same number, and some people got lucky and didn't have to send anything? I can't imagine there is a special number to call where you don't have to send anything in, while there's another one where you do.

Its the same number. When you call just trying say that you have already faxed the info twice and called multiple times and that you would like to know if the representative can just punch in the info his/herself because you are getting irritated. Or you could come up with some other story that has to do with trial and failure of the fax method.

I didn't call, I just faxed a scan of my mouse.

I did this about a month ago and was surprised with a new mouse today 😀

Got my shiny new Explorer 3.0 in this week!

Does anyone want my old Explorer with a double-clicky left button? Might be good to fix an OEM mouse that doesn't have the warranty on it.

Should this be done on one page or what? I got a photocopy of my mouse (the id stuff is clear) on the upper right corner. Should i write my adress and to/from info on the top left or what?

Do you know if they replace Keyboards and/or Keyboard + mouse combos? I have a wireless keyboard and mouse combo, and the traceiver crapped out. Do you know if that can be replaced too?

I got my mouse a couple days ago. So it's still working!

Do they do keyboards as well? I really need to get mine replaced.

Sent the fax without calling and received my brand new mouse 2 days later. I live in Los Angeles so that may explain the speedy delivery from Washington. MS Rules (did I just say that??!).

Oh yeah, I couldn't clearly see my product ID # with any photocopy setting so I just scanned in the mouse bottom at 600x600 and cropped the product ID. I then slapped the cropped image as a graphic file onto a Word fax template - bara bing bara boom I was done. Took less than 10 minutes from start to end. I faxed the sheet to MS twice using the # in the first post. I first faxed it in photo quality than a lower setting to ensure they received it.

Thanks AT!!!!

i got my response in 2 days

I couldn't find my receipt OR the box, so even though the CSR claimed I'd need one of those included with the fax, I went ahead and faxed only the mouse bottom (with model/serial part zoomed) and fortunately they accepted it.

Two days later I received an order confirmation type email, and the mouse arrived around, another 2 days later via Fedex Express, IIRC.

I had seen this thread for quite a while, but only the other day my left-click button had stopped working. I never had a problem with the cord. I really appreciate the way Microsoft handled this.

no. all i did was fax the bottom of my mouse and faxed it. all i did was follow the instructions on the 1st post of this thread. about 48 hrs later i got a response from them. they shipped my mouse via 2 day air

so I just put my name and address and stuff along a copy of the bottom of the mouse showing some numbers... then I will get a free mouse? (well, not free, mine was like acting up cursor jumping around).. do I have to mention anything like replacement?

Might as well mention replacement, it's not like you'll be running out of space on the page... here's roughly how the cover page of my fax read:

Attn: Supplemental Parts

<Mouse Model as listed on label>

Part #
(number given by MS CSR., maybe you don't need it?)

Label on bottom of mouse:
P/N
Product ID

Problem

Request warranty replacement.

Name
Address
Tel.no.
Email

<next two pages were scans of mouse bottom, whole thing & zoomed>

Faxed in 2 requests on 2 Optical's that went haywire.. let's see if Mr Gates comes to the rescue 😛
