I called the phone number listed on the 1st post this morning, and was pleasantly surprised to find that I was able to use my daytime phone number to retrieve my order info. They stated the order was received on 5/9 (it must have taken them 2-3 days before they even put it in the system) and shipped out on 5/13 via Airborne. Does anyone know whow they ship?

Also, I had an Intellimouse 1.0 optical mouse (5 year warranty) that I haven't used for a couple of years. I guess I got about 1 good year out of it before it went bad. Anyway, has anyone had this mouse replaced by MS, and if so, what was the replacement mouse that they sent? The same model, or did they give an upgrade?

I had one that went bad, but for some reason that mouse jumped up and threw itself against the wall. It didn't even leave a note as to why it did. :brokenheart:

Hmm...I would suspect that if you happened to have the bottome piece still intact, it could still be photocopied. Just a thought....

grrr. i have to give MS some props. they said my order was on backorder for an intellimouse explorer v3 til later this month. well i got a box at my doorsteps today. it was from MS.....and i placed the other sometime last week. only problem is, they gave me a regular $20 intellimouse v3 instead. DOH.

there is no way i can accept a $20 substitute for a $50 mouse.

I had an Intellimouse 1.0 that i got replaced sometime last year, back when all you had to do was call in with the numbers....anyways, they replaced it with the 3.0 version.

Well, I got my order a couple of days ago. I'm not sure what version it is, but it is listed as an Intellimouse Optical and came with 4.1 Mouse software. It is a 5 button optical mouse and nicer than my old contoured mouse (which sorta looked like that jelly bean shape). I don't think it is the Explorer that others have gotten, but this works for me.

On a side note: the instructions show that the USB connector is there fro MACs. I can use the mouse as a USB mouse, but is there any advantage to using it as USB instead of using the PS/2 adapter? I currently have it installed as USB, but I'm thinking I should just put it in the PS/2 port and free up my USB slot. Any thoughts on this?

My mouse isn't exactly "broken," but I'm wondering if I should replace it under this plan.
Here's a picture of it. Perhaps all of you can help me decide. Thanks!

LMAO!!

Anyway bought a MS Optical Wheel mouse ... works great ... but good to see Microsoft backing their product ... shocked Microsoft isn't forcing people to return their old ones or registering their name ... social security number and underwear size to get this deal.

😕

ive used microsoft mice for a while and theyre quite nice...i guess its just personal preference...

and to altonb1...id say just leave it in the usb until you need the actual slot its occupying

Hello

Just to let you guys know....this service will also work for Keyboards. My Intellimouse Explorer and Internet Keyboard (both by MS) went bad over the weekend (what bad luck).

Since my mouse was OEM, i didnt even bother calling for the mouse and bought a new one (yes, i am honest) but since the keyboard was retail, i called them up and a new keyboard is otw.

Note: I am still using the faulty keyboard (some of the keys are messed - right arrow key, windows key etc)

Does this also work for their software? 😀

My Wireless Intellimouse Explorer seems to be crapping out.... The light flickers now while moving and doing tasks, making movement quite erratic and spotty. Changing batteries didnt help... 🙁

I did this "deal" with my Explorer Mouse version 1.0! lol I didn't even realize they had discontinued/recalled some of them. 😛 Needless to say they send the newest model, the 3.0, and shipped it 2 day air! Got the sucker in like 3 days flat, very sweet processing and service!

Thanks god I found this thread at the perfect time. My mouse has actually been working very well for the past 4 years, but now the USB connection started dying about every 10 minutes or so and had to be unplugged and reattached. And the wheel is worn out so it pretty much flows freely instead of having the little clicks. I sent the fax last Monday and it just arrived yesterday and the new one is sweet.

another confirmation that this 'deal' is the bomb

I bought a ms optical mouse at bb for like $8 after tax after rebate a month or two ago and replaced it the very next day. the replacement mouse arrived just a few days later.

Please, don't be foolish to do this...

MS registers the Product ID. If the person provides you with the PID for their mouse, they would be cheating themselves out of a replacement for when their mouse dies.

My advice: spend a dime and photocopy it.

People WILL abuse this as some did last time.

Pothead -- It sounds like you intend to or have already abused this service. This is highly unethical.
