Rent a House?

Depends on where you live. A 3 bedroom apt cost about $1100 a month here and that's without a garage. The last house we rented was $1300, 4 bedrooms, 2 car garage, fenced in back yard, nicely finished, had community tennis courts and pool. They even allowed pets with additional deposit. The downside was that the owner foreclosed and stopped taking care of the house.

That's similar to the situation I'm in. I'm moving out a of $1100 3 bedroom apartment w/ no garage into a $1300 4 bedroom house w/ 2 car garage in a nicer area. The owner of this place takes great care of the place though.

Our current place is actually great, but a little more expensive. A retired couple built the home and put in a lot of upgrades. We even have a really nice waterfall in the back yard with top notch landscaping. Has marble counters, upgraded kitchen, hardwood floors and about 3200sq/ft. They pay for grass mowing and landscaping and allow our pets. The owners parents got sick so they had to move away to help so they are just glad someone lives in the house and takes care of it. Basically we have lived in the house 2 more years than they have so far. I would offer to buy the place, but it's lacking a basement which is a major requirement I have.
