Rent a House?

Nope. There are federal and state laws that prohibit renting an entire house to just one person...🙄

So you would have the entire place to yourself? So roommates? If so, then I'm in.

Yes. You can rent an entire house. Just be aware, you generally have to take care of landscaping yourself. You can hire someone to do it for you though.

Well, I see you are rather new here, so let me fill you in:
ALL ATOTers have bought, paid off, & made an enormous profit on at least 4 >$250K homes by the time they graduate High School. (They use their rewards points Credit Cards to make the payments, & the CC Companies are so grateful that they pay off their balance every month, they give them double their money back!)
All from the comfort of their parents basement.

They have no idea what you mean by "rent"!

and make sure you rent one completely furnished.

You can steal all of it and it is perfectly legal in many states such as Oklahoma.

Yes you can rent out the whole house. It's usually better because you end up getting a whole family moving in (more stable).

yes you can rent houses. in fact there are a lot for rent now in a few towns around me.

but do not do what dmcowen said you will go to jail.

edit: also if you don't mind living in the country (i guess it depends on where you are now heh) you can get them cheap. many company's buy farms with houses on them. they rent out the house for a insane low amount (not uncommon to get one just to cover the tax's on the house). i rented a house for $400 a month about 12 years ago.

Yeah but it will be more than an apartment about 2-3x so most don't do it as single occupancy. Makes little economic sense unless you just need the space.

It's not that much more expensive in my experience (I've been looking at rental houses like crazy for the past 6 months). A "decently nice" 3 bedroom apartment costs about $900-1100. A "decently nice" 3 bedroom house costs about $1200-1300.

Depends on where you live. A 3 bedroom apt cost about $1100 a month here and that's without a garage. The last house we rented was $1300, 4 bedrooms, 2 car garage, fenced in back yard, nicely finished, had community tennis courts and pool. They even allowed pets with additional deposit. The downside was that the owner foreclosed and stopped taking care of the house.
