Renegotiating salary after contract period?

I'm not sure if this is common practice or not.

I was hired onto a team for a 3-month period, contract-to-hire. My three month period is nearly over, and the company wants me to continue working as a full time employee.

They are expecting (trying) to transition me in a manner where there will be no renegotiations of any sort. (They said when I first came on that if I was hired full time I would receive benefits after my contract, etc).

I'm wondering if it is common practice, and just, to attempt a renegotiation at my salary.

Anyone have experience with this?

So you'll be turned into salary at the same rate as your contracted amount? You're actually better off in that case. Most places will reduce your salary when you go from contract 1099 hourly to w-2 salary.

Oh 😱

If you're being paid fair market value and are happy with the wage.. I see no problems. But, I would be concerned with how many hours you work now in comparison with
your salary. If you get a lot of overtime now and are paid a lot of overtime and then you go salary with the same amount of hours without the extra money. That's a situation you want to avoid.

I'm happy right now, and the overtime isn't anything I can't handle.

Thanks for the heads up guys 🙂
