Looks like we're stuck with Kazaa for a while (and why Morpheus doesn't work anymore)

First here's an article that explains what happened: Infoanarchy article

To install Kazaa 1.5 without the spyware:
1. Download Kazaa
2. Download and run Adaware to remove all the spyware you just installed (they install even if you don't check them in the kazaa installer)

Now running kazaa gives you an error message, you just removed spyware that is necessary for kazaa to run :Q
So install a dummy file to replace the spyware:
3. Go here
4. Download and extract CD_CLINT.ZIP into your windows\system (win9x) or system32 (nt) folder
5. Run kazaa and enjoy

6. *NEW* Remove B3D Using B3D Killer: Download Here
Why would I want to remove this?

Here's some more info on that last piece of spyware we neutered
It's really an ad-downloader that runs in the background all the time.

I used Kazaa for a while but I could hardly find anything on it, there weren't that many users. Maybe it has grown now that Morpheus has been having problems.

Bah, I'd go back to Audiogalaxy(minus the spyware of course), before using Kazaa.. I just don't like it :p

I wonder why they dropped Linux support? The Linux client they put out had real potential!

A friend told me that Audiogalaxy was a good source of MP3s and had an actively maintained Linux client, but what about my DivX fix? Kazaa was my only choice!

You're right, TheEvil1, I have both installed and nothing happens when you try to start the second one (of course, I've only tried clicking the icon - I haven't tried to force the second one, yet.

for those with pending downloads just copy the contents of your shared folder or the specific file in to the kazaa shared folder (ie kazaadownload11111.dat). Now you should be able to resume your download on Kazaa. good luck

Is it just me, or is the CD_CLINT.ZIP not working? Whenever I download it, it says that the zip file is empty and there is nothing to extract. If it is just me, will anyone please shoot the file over my way. I would appreciate it very much. Thank you.

Jon
