Which is why you don't carry an irreplaceable gun. Thankfully Zimmerman was only carrying a Kel-Tec IIRC. PF-9's are sub-$300. Good gun for the money too IMO.

Welcome to innocent until proven guilty. I'd rather OJ walk free than 10 innocents be locked up or worse.

And yeah, if you shoot someone and there's no evidence of murder (extremely hard to do), congrats! You've just committed the perfect crime! Fortunately both forensic evidence and eyewitness testimony supported self-defense in Zimmerman's case. Given a valid permit, he would have been acquitted in any state. Note that stand-your-ground was not referenced by the defense.

The evidence showed that Zimmerman was attacked and then defended himself after being injured. Perhaps you would insist your wife be found guilty if Martin had beat her and she defended herself with the only means that would have worked.

It would have been amusing to hear that the family had been black. I doubt Zimmerman had a chance to check out the race of the people before he stopped. It's a shame really because it would have been interesting to see Obama and the rioters ignore that. Sadly amusing.

If I were GZ, I would destroy the pistol used that night and let people know that I preferred not to own something that signifies the messed up clusterfuck of that shooting. Could do something , like this recent act of his, to show he's not a bloodthirsty vigilante.

He should AUCTION it on eBay to help raise money that he can use to repair the damage to his life done by being wrongfully imprisoned and having to suffer all the defamation he's suffered and legal costs.

Considering calls for prosecution for civil rights violations which this administration is investigating, saying Zimmerman isn't targeted seems a far stretch.
