back in the early 60's my dad bought a RCA tv with a remote "channel changer" that worked with a tuning fork!..you preset "stops" on the channel selector knob on the television. a small motor would move the channel selector knob to the next stop whenever you pressed the "remote" and it made a "plunk" sound of a specific frequency. no volume control, no on/off control.. black and white with rabbit ears by the way (reception was suck). we kids broke that channel changer in no time flat..

Had a old black and white tv in my bedroom as a kid. It would take about 30 seconds to warm up to a normal picture. And when you turned it off, it would go grey, then black, then shrink to a tiny white dot in the middle of the screen, then finally turn off.

Yep, me too. TV set was probably made in the late 50's ...😱

I am not really that old, but it was hand me down......

Oh yeah, and it was always a blast when I could help my dad take tubes down to the local hardware store and put them in the "tester" which seemed about the size of a small car. 🙂

I remember going into a drug store in 1986 with a bag of tubes out of my TV and asking the 16 year old girl behind the counter where the tube tester was. The look she gave me was priceless. I swear she was ready to call the manager until I quickly showed her the tubes in the bag.
