As a stay-at-home dad to a 6 month old, I for one am going to largely ignore this change. Plus, it drives my wife crazy when I tell her everything in MST. Everything is simply happening an hour earlier than usual.

I so want my state to eliminate daylight sayings. We are close but not there yet.
I am with you, as long as they dont do the unthinkable horrid and vile evil "make DST all year" ... to use it as an excuse to make everybody come to work 1 hour earlier in the day all year.

Not my State but apparently there is a bunch of unexpected minutia that needs to be worked out.
Stated goal is to prevent sun set from occurring before 4:30

I'm pretty sure you're in the minority on preferring standard time to daylight.

Not me. I'm all for real time. Sun at 8 and 9pm was kinda cool as a kid, but I have no use for that crap anymore. The early dark hour days are so limited compared to the rest of the year.

Do you not do anything outside after work? It being dark when I get up doesn't impact me at all during the work week, and it's light by the time I get up on weekends.

So shift your own working hours.

Majority support is already on my side or we wouldn't have states passing legislation to move to permanent daylight time

I don't have problem with permanent DST. I just hate switching back and forth.

I'd rather have more light in the evening than in the morning. By 7a.m. the sun is already coming up anyways; I don't like it to be dark at freaking 4p.m. It's probably not fun doing yardwork in the dark.

If DST was year-round in Oregon, the sun would still be setting at 5:30 in December. BFD, it's going to be cold and raining anyway so it's not like you can hang out in the backyard and grill.

On top of that, the sun wouldn't rise until 8:45 after all kids have to be at school (in said cold and rain). Sounds pretty unsafe to me. All so people can get home from work in a slightly lighter gloom.

That didn't stop the idiot government from passing a law making DST year round if Cali and Washington do it. Morons.
