back in High School, my friends and I all used hacked AOL accounts, did that for a LONG time. But my first ISP was Prodigy. Even though all my nostalgia and fond memories are from ther BBS days, before the Internet blew up.
Hmm.. about '92 or '93... Prodigy was selling a kit for like $35 for a 2400 baud modem and their connection software. Bought it and connected with my 386 machine... met an online buddy thru email and have stayed friends with her till this day. I met her for the very first time (as friends of course) last month.
MSN. It was actually pretty decent at the time. I got solid speeds by dial-up standards. I tried using the university's free dial-up system for students, but that didn't last as once people got logged in they would STAY logged in forever (I know my friend did for 2 days straight one time.)
My first true ISP was a Netcom shell account I opened in 1990 or 91. Before that I had limited internet access through Delphi and was going through some major withdrawal since I had lost free access with the expiration of a contract I worked on for the Navy.
