OK sm@rt@ass....... the point is it's getting old getting emailed updates to this thread, and it either being 1) someone crying they can't find it on Kazaa, or b) a post to the effect of "I want it, gimme gimme". Post when you have it and are willing to share.

I'll put it on kaaza once I get back from school. Not sure what the big deal is though. It's just a picture and people are going nuts. What's the link to Kaaza lite? I want to use that instead of the regular. I get home from school around 2:30 CST.

You can download the image direct from NASA'a site...

Blue Marble: (21600w x 21600h), 245.94 MB color (true), Western Hemisphere

Blue Marble: (21600w x 21600h), 410.41 MB color (true), Eastern Hemisphere

This is the 21000x21000 pixel image, whoever said it was 600MB, I believe was mistaken --[edit]Okay. combined! it's 600 MB![/edit]. All you have to do is send them an email and they will email you back the FTP server.

You can also find lower-resolution versions for download here (visibleearth.nasa.gov) as well.

Yes you can... did YOU click on those links! :)

Large File Access
The file you have selected is approximately 410.41 MB. At this time we are providing access to these files on a restricted basis. If you would like access to this file (#11662), please contact Tara Hess, eobweb@eob.gsfc.nasa.gov. Please note: due to extremely high demand for high resolution imagery, a response to your email may be delayed. You WILL receive a response, however. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding.

All you have to do it email them asking for access... when I email them I received a reply within about 24-hours (this was about 6-8 months ago, so things may have changed since then)... they will send you a FTP server addess where you can download the image.

[edit]I don't remember the FTP address; I didn't save that email once I downloaded it.[/edit]

<< BTW, are there copyright limitations on this? >>

From http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/about.html...

The purpose of NASA's Visible Earth is to provide a consistently updated, central point of access to the superset of NASA's Earth science-related images, animations, and data visualizations. These images are considered to be public domain and, as such, are freely available to the interested public-at-large, the media, scientists, and educators for re-use and/or re-publication. Credit and caption information is already provided in the metadata for all the materials within the Visible Earth. At the very minimum, credit must be given to NASA for use of these materials.

notfred, imho, you can put it on edonkey2000, If you go to edonkey2000 and download the program from the forums you can share it directly. After running the program you can go to sharereactor.com and upload the edonkey hash/shortcut. Leave your pc on and connected for a day and you won't have to worry anymore. It'll be out there and shared. The sharereactor site will post the hash on their website and it will spread like melissa.
