<< <<Never thought I'd see 'Only 512 MB of RAM'>>

Heh, by the time I'm 50, I'm sure they'll be using 512 GB of RAM (or it's equivalent) :)

What's that Bill Gates quote again? "128K is all anyone will ever need" or something like that? heh
>>

128k is all you will ever need is probably true, since a computer with 128k can easily access the internet, email, use word processing, etc.
>>

he's talking about ram. and bill said 640k was all that you'd ever need :p

Freejack, what kind of connection do you have and how many people are downloading that same file simultaneously from you? A couple fellow downloading a divx from me is dragging me down a bit.

I would really love a copy of those files :)

Could someone please post a summary of where the files currently reside? Is it easiest to get them off Kazaa? Did anyone combine the images into one yet??

132.235.164.90 <- the server is full. This is preventing me from uploading the broken east.tif file over again. Also - whoever owns this server: it should support resuming files.

also, I'm uploading to Rakkis's server right now. It's a very fast server. I'm sending at 180k/sec. It will have both tif and jpg files.

You are the only one at the moment apparently. It's a cable modem. No idea what the bandwith limit on it is though.

Hey everyone.

Thanks a lot notfred for hooking these pictures up. This is going to be awesome!

So I think that this server is up on one FTP and is going to Kazaa next. Can someone with a fast connection serve with something besides Kazaa? I'm on a Mac so I don't have Kazaa. I'd be glad to share this with people from ATOT but I really want to have it so that I can share it over Carracho (a Mac file sharing community). Anyone willing to put this up on a Hotline server? That way we could all meet and talk in real time.

Thanks!

At this point, we can all exclaim a collective <homer>Doh!</homer> for not doing a google search sooner. It's only sending @ 27kB right now though.
The western hemisphere should be shared on edonkey in a couple hours.

Perhaps it's just me, but of both the FTP servers I've visited, neither's images seem to be NEARLY large enough.

One was only 170 MB... Others have been around 200-250 MB each... That's a far cry from the 400 MB NASA's site claims...

Bah! I e-mailed them. Hopefully I'll be able to download it directly from NASA in the next couple of days. :)

I need to shut my FTP (electrode.wox.org:2400) down for awhile. I'm getting so ATOT'd that I can't even check my mail! :Q

Hmmm.... Now I need an image viewer that can actually view these files... Paint and IE just don't cut it and I uninstalled Photoshop.

Any ideas/suggestions?

is there some possibility of raring it down, that way we could each host a few files, would cut down the bandwith alot for a few users.

No, the file names are "land_shallow_topo_east.tif" and "land_shallow_topo_west.tif" Not sure why, but most people can't find it on KazaA.

I'm seeing 1.3 million users online sharing 1.4 million GB, but can't find either file.

Please try hopeless879's NASA link BEFORE hitting my server! (post right under this one)

The pictures (both JPEGs and TIFFs) are now available from:

http://penguin.vcsa.uci.edu/clinares

The files will be going OFFLINE at 6:00 pm PST (04.02.2002). Don't complain... I don't want to get in trouble once I get ATOTed. The files are up long enough for a fair amount of people to get them. PLEASE SHARE THEM OVER THE P2P NETWORKS. This way we distribute it a lot faster. I advise dialup users to not attempt the TIFFs from me. You'll most likely only get a partial transfer.

user rating is ON ;)

for hopeless's server, download the zipped one. gonna be a lot smaller. just found out the 21600 is east. i should be done with the east file in about 12 minutes. its 44% done. ill winRAR it and put it on kazaa afterwards.
