So whatever was released apparently had no classified information, so the rebuttal to this released
document, all of a sudden has secret/classified information.

Seriously, only an effing trump/russian, sycophant would believe this.
I fully expected our cheeto-in-charge to refuse to release it.
He's contrary, vindictive and he is an absolute moron.
Well... this one probably has actual facts.

It was from what I have read loaded with classified sources and methods. It was a trap set by the Democrats if Trump redacted it they could point and scream about it. From what I understood he sent it back to the Democrats to fix it.

Hey look. Assumptions paraded as facts. There is absolutely no proof that this is the reasoning.

Remember the FBI and DOJ were screaming at Trump to not release the GOP memo due to both concerns about sources and methods AND the fact that it was woefully misleading. He ignored their concerns completely and released it without modification. Why is he so concerned now?

That is because as we saw when it was released there were no sources or methods in it. Granted I do not Know what is actually in the Dems memo.

If I were in charge I would release it as written and to hell with it. Let the Dems own whatever is in it.

I mean who didn’t see this coming? The cynicism and bad faith from Republicans is not surprising, but it is very, very sad. I’m sure conservatives are already inventing ways for how this is secretly the Democrats’ fault.

Pcgeek, you know as well as I do what has happened. They won’t release the Democratic memo because it would make them look bad politically. They released the Republican one because they thought it would make them look good. (It blew up in their faces, but that’s just incompetence in their part).

There were no sources or methods in it? Steele was what? How they got the Papadoplos info was what? Stop twisting yourself into a pretzel. Honestly, I don't care about these sources or methods. I care about seeing the full picture of what our elected leaders are telling us. I think the full FISA application should be declassified so we can see as the right claims what our government is doing I guess transparency isn't as big a deal as the right has been screaming the last 2 weeks.

You realize there’s a decent chance that releasing the full FISA warrant would literally lead to people being killed, right? Is that really worth it?

It would also cripple US intelligence activities going forward as no one will be a source for us if they think they will be burned next time a US president gets in trouble with the law.

I'm not sure. At this point I think we should and redact it as much as possible. Democracy does die in the darkness and the Republicans are doing everything they can to make it as dark as possible. Plus I think we over classify.

And he is setting himself up again, cause we just KNOW that the original version will leak and then everyone gets to see what Trump wanted erased. Stupid sprinkled with stupid on top.
Not to mention how organized religion continues to back this behavior enabling even more of it.

The GOP does not give 2 cents about the consequences of releasing the fisa memo as long as it servers their own agenda. See plamegate

I agree that we over-classify, hugely. I still don’t think releasing the FISA warrant in its entirety, especially in response to nonsense like what we got from Trump and Nunes is the answer though.

Honestly what we should be doing is bringing Nunes up on ethics charges. He amply deserves it.

The dishonesty & sheer incompetence of Team Trump is astounding.

Only the White House claims that release of the Dem memo would compromise national security. The HOR committee authorized release & the FBI has made no objection, unlike the Nunes memo.

And it's all about a search warrant for a phone tap on a guy the FBI identified as a weasel long before he insinuated himself into the Trump campaign. And it all happened after he was forced out of the campaign.

If they can sell this load of bullshit then America is a lot further through the looking glass than I ever imagined possible.

Such utter horseshit.

But then, not entirely surprising from the poster child of capricious hypocrisy who has no credibility and plenty to hide.

Il Douche's gotta scrub the parts that make him look like a conspiring traitor, it's just too unfair to him people.

I have thought on many occasions that actions taken by Trump was of a desperate man, on the verge of catastrophe... maybe this time?

Horse poop. You and I both don't have a clue what is in the Dems memo.

I don't recall seeing anything blow up in anyone's face over the Reps memo.

I think they should release the Dem's memo as written and no blackouts. I do think the Dems are leaving classified info in the memo trying to force Trump to blackout parts, just so they can point at it and claim he is hiding the facts.

If that was true the FBI or Intelligence Committee would surely have raised objections first. The only realistic option at the minute is that Trump wants the Republican's false version of events to be the only version out there. There is no evidence to suggest your opinion is true currently.

Did the FBI publically object to the Dem memo like they did the Nunes memo?

Answer that question & you'll realize that requested redactions aren't about national security at all. Quite the contrary.
