About time. Still, the question is how long before we actually see any boards for it? I'm been waiting practically forever for nForce 250 and now that it's (trickling) out, I find that it's really not all that much better than nForce 150. I may just say the heck with it and get a standard K8T800 board like the Epox 8HDA3+ and be done with it.

VIA will price the new PRO chipset version exactly the same as the previous non-PRO version. This means that you will quickly see the K8T800 PRO replace the K8T800 in every Athlon 64 configuration - Socket 754, Socket 940, and the new Socket 939. The chipset will be the same in all configurations, meaning 1000 HT and PCI/AGP lock will soon be available even in Socket 754 boards for current Athlon 64 chips that are based on the K8T800 PRO chipset.

Maybe he did but isn't the 939 replacing the 754 ? So we should see prices between $150-400

I know there will be 754 256 Cache "XP" chips in the future

I will not be upgrading to pro, I have had no desire to overclock. Everything is so smooth as it is at stock... :)

I think 2.4 Ghz was the largest I've seen on some Nvidia pci/agp locked mobos.

And I think there is one last CPU coming out for the 754 which is 12x200 = 2.4 Ghz with 512-1MB L2.

I wouldn't expect anything enormous.. they seem to have a 2.3-2.4 gig ceiling...

Need my machine stable as it's fast enough as is.

We can purchase a board with the K8T800 Pro chipset today. Abit's KV8 Pro. There are several vendors carrying the board in stock as I write this post... just check your favorite price engine, they're around $110 shipped.

:)

well ok.. heh... but most people use air cooling, so...
sh!t, the CPU's are fast enough they do not need to be overclocked :D

I'd probably run mine stock for quite a while :)

Yes this board is the K8T800 Pro chipset.

No it does not have PCI/AGP lock available in the bios. We think they can fix this issue in the bios but there is no word yet from Abit when or if they will fix the problem. They just slapped the board together without exploiting all the benefits of the pro chipset.

shame on you abit! race to the finish and coming up shorting the user.

Chaintech pulled the same trick with not fully utilizing the Chipset's features. The rush to be first to market to generate sales has left these companies with some egg on their faces. Here's a review showing the Abit KV8 PRO is a terrible overclocker@this time link

Perhaps unhappy users RMAing these boards in quantity will convince these companies to not rush, but get it right next time :)
