registration problem with office 2000

I have the academic version of office 2000. I bought it from my school for a reduced rate. With this reduced rate came stipulations that you could only install it up to three times and only on one computer.

being a silent rebel I have gone over the quota with my compulsive need to reformat my hard drive. Here is the problem. I already registered the bloody software. Now when I reinstall it the registration ballon comes up telling me to register the product. When I attempt to do so via the internet, I get a message telling that the software is already registered on another computer. It will not let me register. This is a problem because the version of Office 2000 that I have is under a time limit of 50 uses before registration is mandatory.

does any one know of a work around or solution? I am not wedded to Microsoft, but 10$ for Office 2000 was too good of a deal.

You are screwed, youre at the limit of your license agreement. You must register. Or buy a new copy. In otherwords don't get acedemic anymore. But seriously it is rediculus that MS won't let you register again. I registered my premium copy once, and now it won't let me register again. MS didn't design it to be formated off ever. I guess it could be classified as a bug. But seriously there is nothing you can do. By using it the first time you agreed to the rules of the agreement. So there is nothing you can/MS has to do.

try emailing ms about the registration/reformatting problem, if they realized ppl actually reformat their comps, they might just change their fascist business methods.

That code won't do anything on an AE product.

With AE Microsoft products you use the initial code to open it for 50 uses, then it shuts down again unless they call/mail/internet in and get a SECOND code...

With the money you saved buying the Academic Edition, think of it as a limited edition. And such has lots of rules to follow in it's use. If you want to try to get around all this goto your school with the original disks, and talk to the staff. They may have an open license agreement and may be able to help you deal with the microsoft staff getting the second code for a 4th time.

BTW>for those that don't know, everytime you install the AE products it produces a NEW code into the registry that needs the MS staff to use a key-code to open(this is the second code i am referring too).

If you don't have the original disks and such, sorry your outta luck.

I must be living right. My daughter bought an academic version of Office 2000 Professional that I have installed and registered at least 7 or 8 times on several different machines that I have built for her and on my machine at home that she uses for homework. The 50 starts feature got her once but she registered it and all was well.
