It's people like you that make the voting rate so low in the U.S
I make a 1 vote difference. My not voting has literally the EXACT same effect on the outcome as your vote. Muahaha
So in your mentality, there's not much of a difference between $999,999,999 and $1,000,000,000? Got a dollar?

you're 100% correct. If I were to donate $1, there would be no difference at all in the amount of total money. However, since I personally have less than 1% of the total money, it makes much more sense for me to hold on to it.

Of course you can't really compare these things the way you stated it.

Well, thank the gods that you do. It's this sort of political apathy from people who don't vote multiplied by fifty million that is creating the joke of a participatory democracy which we have in this country.

Uh, I'm one person, not 50 million. My vote will NEVER make a difference, ever.

He's trying to say that if plenty of people share that same mentality.....well, yeah it does make a difference.

what if 50 million people have the same apathy to voting as you do? does 50 million votes count?

I fail to see how that changes the power of my vote.

maybe half vote Rep and half vote Dem, then the votes don't make a dick of difference.

point is, I am ONE vote, not 50 million. I know for a fact that I will never change the outcome of an election so I don't waste my time voting.

You're right, you are one, not 6 billion, so if you stop breathing, it wouldn't make a difference.

You're right as it doesn't effect the world as a whole. However, if effects me directly, while voting does not. So again, you can't compare

Best way is to register as permanent absentee voter. That way you don't have to go to the polls and can just fill in the ballot at your leisure at home and mail it in.

Your vote does make a difference, because you live in California...a state that could go either way.

My vote does not count, since I live in Kansas. Bush will win this backwards-assed conservative hellhole of a state.

Wrong. The closest election (as of late at least) was in Florida. And even then it was THOUSANDS of votes, not one. I will not now nor ever sway any election, ever.

Yes, CA could go either way. For Kerry or against Bush is anyone's guess at this point :D

Well, one day you will vote. I can almost guarantee you that. You will somehow be effected by the outcome of the election, and at that point you will want to make sure your guy gets voted in.

I don't vote either. Never have, never will. kranky points out a good reason why voting is worthless. The whole political process is just a charade, a popularity contest put forth by power brokers.

I have already been affected from the government. But I don't vote for the same reason I don't get lottery tickets

And for those that don't; you realize you're the strongest party there is. If everyone that didn't vote, actually voted in unity, they could elect anyone they wanted; even a 3rd party.

And really its so damn hard to take 15 minutes out of your life every 4 years.

Well they are united in apathy; might as well unite in something worthwhile.
