Not very far, but I really didn't try all that hard either. Had it at 2.52 Ghz. on an Asus K8N-E Deluxe. Used the stock heatsink with a larger fan and funnel, and had very average RAM.

We always seem to get AGP part 1st , maybe the oem think we are poor who can't afford to upgrade. Anyways Australia has the highest turn over ratio for HD-TV in the world so take that you anti-poor biased company 🙁

287.00$ Australian money is 255.00$ American. If the avg price of a pci-e 3850 is 250.00$ there, that means the agp part is only 5$ more?

I used to have mine in a K8VSE-Deluxe. Its in a DFI lanparty now (rest of specs in sig), maybe I'll give it a shot. Although Im not sure what to expect in terms of performance gains.

I used the simple Asus A.I Overclocking in the BIOS and just bumped it up to 5% which increased the CPU clocks to 2.52 Ghz. an RAM clocks to 420. Definitely boosted performance from the benches I ran at the time.

Haven't seen a official MSRP. Only second hand info from a user on another Forum saying a Powercolor Rep told him it would be around $200. This is the figure that's getting thrown aaround. I suspect we will see better pricing than we did with the X1950 Pro's when they were launched. Paid $299 at launch for my Visiontek 256MB card in Nov 06, then $250 for the Sapphire 512MB 2-3 weeks later.

If you see yourself building a new Rig sometime in the near future and need to throw every nickel and dime into it, I'd say no. If not, then hell yeah and screw the bottlenecking. You'll still see a boost regardless of your CPU, just not a large of boost as you would see with a dual-core CPU obviously. It's your money though and everyone has there own idea on "whether it's worth it" or not.

 
I have an incredibly stupid question. I have a AMD 3200+ 939 single core, which is obviously a huge bottleneck for this video card.

However, if I am not mistaken performance hit won't be as big if I keep the resolution say around 1680x1050, correct?

Edit: I currently have a 850xt, not that has anything to do with the question at hand.

Sadly, I have not gotten into the "fun" of overclocking. So that is unlikely, however, I doubt I have much to lose if I did try a few things. 😉

i think i 'need' it as much as its possible to need a graphics card...check out my computer in my sig. i feel that it would be a HUGE upgrade for me.
