Yes, my email said "backordered" too.

It is garanteed there are no working coupons with SB right now, they used to give coupons for the preoders of new products - 100$ off , or free install, or free shipping and such, those are long gone. Rebates are also not valid on this unit, but the deal is great, I could not pass it up.

Since you got in on this early, did your confirmation email say "backordered"?

I don't know if everybody is getting this because they're not available until the 29th and Sonic Blue is just calling that "backordered", or if only the latecomers are getting the "Backordered" emails because the inventory is low/out

do you guys think this one is better than the tivo hdr112. I finally talked my dad into purchasing one of these, so I was wondering which one to get. I think we are leaning towards the replaytv one. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Kruseman: You'll probably get biased opinions in this thread, since we all bought ReplayTV's and want to feel good about spending all that $$. 🙂 This is a great site for comparing the features:

The truth is neither is perfect, and each has some features that the other really should have. I'm a replay fan. You can PM me with any questions.

Yeah, that thick wallet site has a friends and family link for 15% off, if it's good on the refurbs... people have posted that it let them place the order at the discounted rate.
I was able to get the main page again about 10 minutes ago, but couldn't follow any links without losing the site.

i couldn't take the pressure.... broke down and bought one.

the 15% extra off put me over the edge, $292 after tax and delivery. :Q

probably gonna regret it though, i don't need it.

lazarus000: None of us needs this stuff 😛 We only cash on these hot deals because finally men are able to compulsively buy like Women -- we just don't need to go to the shopping mall 😉

Well, we'll see how many of us get the chance to regret it.

Chronologically sequenced Order #s have gone from the 399,000 range on Sat to 440,000+ today. And while the guy from ReplayTV's customer care department (who posts on AVS and has appeared on FW) points out that the website also sells rios and activations, I'd guess a good hunk of those 40,000+ orders in the last couple days were for the Replay. And if people are ordering more than one unit (as some are) that would play a part as well.

We'll see what happens.

Monthly or Lifetime sub?

I have been on the fence about getting a RTV, looking for best price, better way of watching TV etc but one thing that I havent resolved is monthly at $10\mth or bite the bullet & go $250\lifetime. Months ago the question was will RTV die with Ch11 or not. Looks like not, but still the question $10 vs $250......

Think though.. that's $12M worth of sales.. which is about a third of what D&M paid for ReplayTV.
If they actually have that much inventory, D&M made out.

Note that the above comparison doesn't compare Replay's newest software. 5.0 was just released to 5k units.

Nor does it include the latest TiVo features, either.

There are a couple posts on FW and AVS that elude to the fact that their orders may have been cancelled becasue they used the 15% Friends & Family discount. This is only a couple post, so it's hard to speculate. It seems as if everyone is still stuck waiting...

People are reporting orders being cancelled and receiving emails that say:

We're sorry, but we were not able to validate your credit card
information, and we are unable to process your SONICblue web order #442604
at this time. Please resubmit your order with a different credit card, or
contact our customer service team by calling 800-468-5846 if you need
additional assistance with placing your order.

SONICblue eStore
www.sonicblue.com

When calling CS to inquire, everybody is reporting that the reason for the cancellation is that the customer used the 15% off F&Family discount, (which has been completely disabled on the website at this point, BTW)

They are being told to re-order on the website if they want the item (sans 15% off, of course)

The latest report on FW says:

When the CSR picked up, I asked him why my order was cancelled and was told that it was because the F&F discount was applied onto the order and that was not allowed. I told him that I reordered the units and, "given the number of orders that have gone through, will we be getting the units or will the order be cancelled?". His response was "no, we will not cancel the order and you'll receive the units. We'll be manufacturing them and shipping them out after the 29th".

This makes it sound like we're getting new units, not refurbs! BTW, the F&F thing is dead. I tried the link and the direct coupon and neither are working. Oh well.

From the Replay employee who posts at AVS:

There's been no general cancellation of F&F orders. If you told that, you were given incorrect information. Orders that fail the automated or manual fraud check, get cancelled. That's it. So, if your order was cancelled, call in and place an order or double check the billing address and credit card information. It's very easy for their to be a typo in the information you enetered.

And, while there's been a lot of speculation that we sold out, don't let that speculation stop you from placing orders.

Like a rollercoaster 🙂

EDIT
And the item description page now says
Orders will ship in two week window:
May 30th - June 13th via UPS Ground Only! Rebates are not valid for this unit.

Lifetime Service = This unit only!

When this unit dies and if you buy another one I believe you have to pay the $250 again or the monthly fee. If I'm wrong please point me to where it states otherwise. Thanks

Well, since the $250 lifetime fee is going up to $300 on June 1st, you can probably strike that off your option list.

So, would you have to pay $300 or go monthly? Is the lifetime service transferrable? I don't know 100%, although I read a post that said you could transfer it to another unit for $50. But that was during a Google search and may have been old, outdated or just erroneous aince others have asked the question and people have said things like "only within a certain period of time" So I really don't know, but it's a question that seems to come up rather frequently.

I did a quick scan of the following FAQs and couldn't come up with a definitive answer.

http://rtvpatch.sourceforge.net/faq.html

I read the contract and my interpretation of it is stated above. I also read the FAQ's and did not find the question answered. I'm sure it is a FAQ for sure, but answering the question does not help sell units. Only my opinion.
