I don't know how good they are about returns/refunds but if it's anywhere near as bad as my experience with tracking and cancelling orders in the last week, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't take the card back fine.
I ordered an X850 Pro last Tuesday (07/11/2006) evening, after hours, and submitted a cancellation request about a half an hour later when I saw the email stating a 3-4 week shipping time. Since then, I've emailed and called numerous times asking for information about my cancellation of this order. The website simply says that my cancellation has been "requested." Attempts to re-cancel the order online gives me an error saying I didn't provide a valid user ID and order ID, which I suspect may indicate that my order is no longer in their databases but I can't be sure. I don't know why it would continue to show up on the site as pending cancellation if that was the case, though. In any event, the only thing the email responses or live customer service reps have been able to tell me is that they received a request for cancellation. They don't know if anyone has looked at it, when it might be processed, or even if there's a chance that this order will still ship. Despite several vague responses about how long this process should take, ranging from within 24 hours (Five days ago) to by the end of the day (on Friday), it still is pending cancellation.
I've since placed an order for the X800 XL thinking that this was some kind of fluke. At this point, I don't think it is. Even though I ordered an in stock item before the shipping deadline on Friday (anything in stock ordered before noon EST is supposed to ship that day), they can't tell me whether or not my order was even processed that day. I have no tracking information, and that's all the CSRs could tell me.. That they didn't have tracking information from the courier so they couldn't tell me whether or not my order had been received by fulfillment.
Basically I feel like I could get better service from some random schmuck running an online store out of his garage at this point. This is especially ridiculous coming from one of the two major GPU manufacturer's own online storefront. This would be my first ATi card, but so far the experience has been so excruciatingly bad that I don't know that I even want one of these cards any longer. I've been reassured several times by CSRs that if they do ship the X850 along with the X800 XL, I could just return the unwanted X850 by submitting a returns/refund request. If making a request for my money back is as hard as finding out whether or not they even plan to ship my orders, I don't want the hassle. I'm considering calling my credit card company and trying to request some kind of stop-payment through them so that even if they attempt to fulfill my orders, they'll be rejected and can just deal with cancelling the order themselves.
I should've just stuck with Newegg.
